Nice Dayton/Poulan 4Z252 (5.2 c.i.) on fleabay right now. Has a brake. BIN for $575. Might be worth it.

Looks like a nice one Steve. But I think for that price, I would like it a little more original. I suppose a fella could eventually get it back to looking like a Dayton/Poulan should though. Don't get me wrong though, I would love to have it.
Heck, I have been known to paint up a saw in non-traditional colors before.:D But I don't plan on selling them either. And for good money.

I would be all over a nice clean original Dayton branded 5200. Too bad that one on eBay isn't one.

To me the Canadian 8500 cover and chainbrake detracts and devalues it a lot. The collector value is now shot.

I wish that seller lots of luck getting that price out of it.

Thanks for the fuel fittings. They look great! :yourock:

Not On Gerry's saw......I do have a 4000 of my very own in route though.

Hold up on the backslapping till we see if it can make it through a few tanks. That saw was a challenge to figure out. It was sporting a homemade intake block and base gasket.....the base gasket had softened and caused the base to become warped....and the intake gasket was covering the impulse passage. Now it has new crank seals, spur drive, fuel line and filter, and the squish is tighter as we turned a little from the cylinder base to true it up.

Keep us updated on it please. :)
Started this baby up this morning. I don't know how much you took off the cylinder base but the compression seemed much stouter. I really like the way it runs now. Very impressive. Not the cleanest 4000 I could wish for but the way it runs now makes up for that a lot.

So I figured I would introduce myself here I'm Scott and I have cad I'm pickin up a poulan 361 supposedly runs has a 21 inch bar and chain I did som research on acres net to get the specs are these good saws? does anyone own one that could give me the ups and Downs? would it be unrealistic to put a 25 inch bar on

I think the original cover without the brake is included.

No, but it sure wouldn't be a very nice thing to do to a fine old workhorse.
Put a 16 or 18 on it and have some fun.

Well we are what we are!!!:msp_wink:

But we like you anyway!

Mike

No offence taken here and besides I like reading your posts they contribute in my opinion.

Thanks guys.

The S25-CVA resurection went well yesterday. Took about 1/2 pound of sawDUST and pitch out of the underside of the flywheel cover and that general area. Replaced the fuel line. Rebuilt the carb. Replaced the upper front AV mount with one from a parts saw (those damn things always seem to fail....wish they were still available new), and did a few test cuts with it. Add another one to the working stable. Great little saw. I need to grind off the 'sharkfins' on the safety chain however...

358.356080

Will rings for 358.356090 fit 358.356080??

Better question should be will part #530025933 fit my saw?

Here's your IPL on the Sears website.

Here's the IPL for the 358.356090.

The part numbers for the rings are different between the two. Because of that, you can't use the rings for the 358.356090 saw on yours. Rings for your saw ARE still available.....although they are backordered at the moment. You may be able to take that 530024332 rings part number to your local Husqvarna dealer to order them. May also be able to order them from ordertree.com.

Picked up my 5200 today...... Put some heavy mixed gas in a pop bottle, started it, and nursed it along for a few minutes. Diaphragm eventually started working, set idle speed...... It doesn't have overspray on the fuel line, but I don't think the carb has ever been off, it has some green on it. Stickers are perfect except for clutch cover. It also has the plastic block over the high and low speed screws. I think this is what Mark must have been talking about "the tool" ; I would like to aquire one of said tools :) Paint is 85% , definitley not a loggers saw. not beat; NEW Oregon B/C..... dont like the bar though, it is whimpy looking, looks like a streched wild thing bar....too tired for pics tonight, Why does it have a "solid state ignition" sticker? first time I've seen that.

Ok, get out the suck-o-meter..........................

Fitty bucks :potstir::)

Night nite,

KJC

Karl you big time suck. Tellyawhat...............................you can pass on that suckage to me by selling me that 5200 for $50. Was worth a try....:D

His description was PAINFUL to read because it's written ENTIRELY IN CAPS and run-on sentances. The CB clutch cover appeals to me becuase I sometimes cut at a state park which requires CB's. Not interested at that price however.........

I agree. Great old saw, but I wouldn't run it with a 25" bar. Probably wouldn't run it with a 21" bar either. I've got 16" and 18" bars for that saw, and would trade you one of 'em for that 21" bar ifya want.....

That might be the case, but in any case, I wouldnt care if it came with 6 covers for that price.

Your talking collector money and that is not in top collectors condition. Might not matter anyway as I no longer can find it on ebay...

Discussing prices on that Dayton though brings me to the question, what in the hell is going on with Ebay/Poulan prices?

Just today a non running 5400 brought $450, a non running PP475 (with two bars) brought $368 and a decent 4000 didnt meet reserve at $230!!

Time will tell what that AC 295 will end up selling for. It's at $427 now.

Time for me to start selling it seems. LOL

I wish you'd tell that to the people who aren't bidding on my 3.8. Great saw, guess I should'a kept it. Only got 1 bid.

He ended the Dayton 5200 auction because "the item is no longer available" (yeah OK). The late production 4000 he also had listed sold today for $200. Maybe somebody did a 'backdoor' package deal with the seller...

POULAN 5200 ..DAYTON / 85cc`s..5.2 cubic inch..CHAINBRAKE..STOUT MACHINE | eBay

POULAN`S BIGGEST MID-RANGE SAW " THE 4000" 65cc`s ..3.9 cubic inch engine | eBay

Isn't that kinda steep? I sold mine for $85 and it had a chain...maybe mine was too cheap!

Had to edit my post once I realized you were talking about the $955 Poulan 306 rather than the $200 Poulan 4000 that I'd posted links for. THAT price is STUPID steep. At least it's "or best offer".....................and therefore means that he may just be aiming high, but would accept a reasonable offer (like $50 or so). I see somebody bid on your grey 3.7/3800 finally.
