Thanks, mike. I just get confused when they start throwin' Roman numerals at me. An XXV is different than a 25 except when it isn't. :dizzy:

BTW, what are you still doing up?

Been coon hunting tonight!
Went out to the shop and when I opened the door there were eyes everywhere looking back!!!!!LOL
Can't have that.
Wasn't real anxious to do a lot of shooting in the shop with THOUSANDS of $$$ worth of saws, but not aiming to be coon bit either!
I killed at least 4 of them.

Mike

Mike, in my mind's eye I can see you with a 12 guage cutting a swathe through those critters in your shop, empty shells going everywhere and bits of fur and smoke floating around. Lordy, I hope it wasn't dangerous for you.:msp_biggrin:
I am an old duck hunter - do you have to lead a coon much?

I used oven cleaner to clean most the plastic got some fresh stripes on it to match my cream sickle fresh bar and chain now I gotta find somethin to cut maybe the storm damage at my inlaws ;)View attachment 244889View attachment 244890

I'm waiting to hear how it cut. I didn't do any real work with that one but it sounded nice. The one I picked up yesterday is stronger than I expected. I put some fresh mix and bar oil in to see if everything worked and cut some 16" oak by my wood pile. Nice low end torque and decent high speed cutting as well. I can see why these saws are so popular. It's heavy, but does have a good feel to it.

I'm sure this doesn't happen to you experts but I always get a tad nervous when nobody else bids on a saw I'm watching. I figure there's something really wrong that I'm not seeing.

Seems I bought me a S25DA.

I suspect you did alright on this one. You may be surprised at who owns this one.

The reason nobody else bid was he started the bids kinda high. That just means the seller didn't want to take a loss on the saw. I do that sometimes myself. Poulans don't sell very high on ebay and if he'd started it at 9.99 he might have had to sell it for that. It looks to me like you got yourself a good saw, you usually don't have to worry about those Poulan 25s.

My thoughts exactly Steve. I'm taking a WAG here, and thinking that saw was one from Joe, up there in Mass. (Joe25DA) If thats the case, he will have nothing to worry about.:)

Gregg,

Very perceptive, Grasshopper! An unusual quality to be found in a Poulan collector. :hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Opened the door?

Who gave them a key?

At least 4? We need a body count!

DH1984 is available to help ya skin 'em, he's not doing anything here ....

Al, I got this vision (kinda like the Terminator movie) with Mike standin' in the doorway .... the cool sunglasses thing going on (yeah, I know it was at night) .... big Winchester shotgun filled with 00 .....

Mmmm, someone's going to be eating well this week. Tell Sheila not to scrimp on the seasoned salt.

Yeah, the second I saw I had a PM from Joe it hit me. Last night I kept thinking I should know who sly from MA was but must have had enough Canadian Mist that those neurons weren't firing correctly.

Thank you, Joe and clean out your PM's. I wrote you a long, thoughtful response which is now lost in cyberspace forever.

No way I'm touching off a shotgun in my shop full of saws!!!LOL
.22 Ruger pistol and flashlight works REAL good though.
The headcount was 4 but the neighborhood dogs must've gotten the one that fell outside during the night.

Due to the sensitive nature of the deed, I won't post a pic on here but this is a link to a photo.

They came in through the window where the stovepipe goes out.
Pushed the board in and crawled through the crack.
The one the dogs got was crawling back out when I got back from the house with the gun.

The scene wasn't very "Terminator like" more like when the cops kick in the door and stand in the doorway shooting the bad guys on all sides of the room!!LOL
Scared the bejeezers out of the neighbors two houses down who were sitting on their front porch dringing a few beers.

That seller uses the same description in all posts .... :dizzy:

They've relisted this saw at least once .... has a better sales record with Harley parts, though ...

Hopefully the values of the Harley parts are at least close to his asking prices.

And who runs a 20" bar on a 38cc chainsaw (if the length is correct)?

The starting bid was a bit high for most folks, but if that 25 is a low hours runner that doesn't need anything,.

This one caught my :Eye: earlier...:msp_ohmy:.

GREAT RUNNING! VINTAGE CRAFTSMAN PRO CHAINSAW, 20" BAR, LITTLE USE, SUPER CLEAN | eBay

That is THE exact Craftsman red XXV variant (a red S25-CVA without PS) that I've been looking for to add to my collection (I have a nice red 2.1A/25DA thanks to MMark). Not at that price however. I'll put it in my watch list and see if he relists it at a reasonable level. If I do end up with it, the 20" bar will be put aside for something else.......

Missed out on one of those in really nice shape a while ago when I forgot to set my 'snipe'. Somebody got it for around $30 IIRC. The Craftsman red S25-CVA's don't come up too often. When they do, they'e usually PS variants (which I'd still get............but I'd swap a non-PS cover on). I've passed up a couple rough looking PS variants that went for more money than I'd want to throw at an 'unknown condition' saw (I'd rather repaint one of my green S25-CVA's). This is the first LATE Craftsman red S25-CVA that I've seen (with the black AF cover and that style of decals) since I worked on one while at Sears Service in 1994 or so. Non-CVA Craftsman red (and Sears Explorer yellow and Sears blue) XXV saws come up all the time.
