Some will go for the long bar on a small saw. I sold a small Poulan 1800(?) with 18" on it at a grage sale. Told the dude it needed a 12 or maybe a 14.
20" saws sell faster than 14's.

That is THE exact Craftsman red XXV variant (a red S25-CVA without PS) that I've been looking for to add to my collection (I have a nice red 2.1A/25DA thanks to MMark). Not at that price however. I'll put it in my watch list and see if he relists it at a reasonable level. If I do end up with it, the 20" bar will be put aside for something else.......
Missed out on one of those in really nice shape a while ago when I forgot to set my 'snipe'. Somebody got it for around $30 IIRC. The Craftsman red S25-CVA's don't come up too often. When they do, they'e usually PS variants (which I'd still get............but I'd swap a non-PS cover on). I've passed up a couple rough looking PS variants that went for more money than I'd want to throw at an 'unknown condition' saw (I'd rather repaint one of my green S25-CVA's). This is the first LATE Craftsman red S25-CVA that I've seen (with the black AF cover and that style of decals) since I worked on one while at Sears Service in 1994 or so. Non-CVA Craftsman red (and Sears Explorer yellow and Sears blue) XXV saws come up all the time.

This one is very near me (I haven't sent an EM), but it's not a CVA, & I can't tell if has PS.

You guys are sharp as tacks! That 25 Steve got is a nice solid saw, I just sent it out this afternoon too Steve so keep your eyes open for it. A bidder asked me the compression, I dont think it was Steve, but I tested it and it was just shy of 150psi, real high for one of these saws. Someone esle asked if the muffler had mud on it! It was just surface rust but I took it off, ran it on the wire wheel and sprayed it and it does look better.
The saw is probably a late 70s model as it has the Tilly carb, points ign, and round top handle.

Uhh, thanks, uhh.
I can email the seller to see what the deal is. Since it's not a 2.3, I could try to get a better price. Personally I would have to real impressed to pay $50.00 for even a 2.3 (picky and cheap ).
Thanks, Mike.
I laid the 3700 on the clutch side to change out the oil cap. When I removed the cap oil just gushed out of the saw from somewhere. What does it sound like needs to be fixed? I've not much experience with the oil system on these saws so any help would be appreciated.
How much is a working 260 worth seemed to start run and oil fine with a good 16 inch bar not sure how old it is it's got the primer button on it also equipped with a chain brake so I figured it newer the reason I ask is there's one for sale at an auction I'm going too tonight and CAD got ahold of me by the ear but I don't wanna pay way over what it worth I'm a cheap as* lol

Check behind the bar adjustment screw and make sure the case isn't broken.
Sometimes folks tighten the clutch cover down without having the bar adjuster in the bar hole and it pokes a hole in the case back inside that slot.
I recently picked up a 3300 with the same issue.
Mike
Well thankfully I don't see a crack. Maybe I'll dry it out and see if I can see where it's coming out.
