My 3400 has a brake, sadly missing the handle. And the cover itself is cracked by the tensioner screw.:msp_sad:

Aaron, I might have a 2000 micro with a brake that I can spare the cover from. I guess it's more of a case half than a cover. IIRC it has very little compression and I'm probably not going to fix it with all these other ones.

Does anyone have a 245 manual oiling saw? I need to get pics of the decals. The saw, I'm working on, is just a 245...not an automatic.

Sooo I was getting ready to go take some close-up/macro pictures of my 245A with the script style lettering per your request.........before I read this. I'll be glad to do that if it's something you still want. :msp_confused:

Actually, one just needs a spring. The one, I just got, needs both springs, one dog, and a stud. Haven't been able to locate a spring (except for the one I ordered from that Calvin guy, and he would never ship out, had to get Paypal to issue a refund) so I figured it'd be just as easy to look for the whole flywheel. 361 parts hardly ever show up on ebay, either........:dizzy:

I just looked at two 361 parts saws this afternoon but I'm sure he wouldn't sell cheap, at least he never has...

Hey Cow :)

I'm near positive that your Skil branded saw is a 2.0 cube model 1618 I have one here that is identical.....I had a super clean 1634 that i gave to an old fellow yesterday...It had the larger anti-vibe set-up and was a 2.3 cube.

Rob, thanks for pointing this out, I checked again and according to the Poulan branded timeline chart you are correct on the 1618 being a 2.0 with antivibe and from the same chart it list the 1634 as a Micro 25CVA which would have been the smaller engine, not the 2.3 of the 2300CVA.

Yes, you can still take them. I'll send them on to the fellow who makes the stickers and bar stencils. I would still like a couple sets, and they're probably some more guys, here, that would like a set, or two......

Lombard dog on left, XL-101 on right. Pioneers use the same stuff.

Here are the pics of the flywheels. One is a WICO, and the other is a Prestolite. Both have identical dogs, but one uses the studs and the other has a bolt.

The dogs, on the WICO, look perfect, the one that is left on the Prestolite has a worn spot, so I'll probably replace both.......

opps

Aren't the dogs on the Wico flywheel on backwards? They are certainly opposite to the way the ones on my Homelites are positioned:taped:

PS Also looking for a fuel cap for XXV and a cylinder for a 40cc big box store poulan/craftsman

ID help

Can anyone identify this saw? The decal on the flywheel cover says it's a 25D, but the cover is not original to the saw.
The cover has a notch for the kill switch, but there is a toggle-type kill switch on the body of the saw. It has a Tillotson
carb, casting # 28213 on the crankcase, and 23M on the cylinder barrel. It's a manual oiler. It has no other identification.
I'm trying to scrounge up a few parts, so any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Oops..My mistake, Mark! I could have sworn when i looked up the 1634, it was a 2.3, but I see I must have been mistaken.....Not that I would ever debate Poulans with you anyway. You're a wealth of information.

I have quite the mountain of these little guys I've gathered up. I need to get a couple running. I have a pretty clean Super 250 that I think will make a good compact little saw for the back of my quad.

The recoil is definitely from the earliest models of the 25 due to the color and slot for the sliding switch.
When you remove the recoil, look down in there and see how many mounting screws the oil pump has. Two screws = manual oiler ONLY and 3 screws = automatic oiler with manual assist.(IIRC)

I believe the "23M" is probably 2.3M which would be the 38cc cylinder.

So in short, I believe you have an S25DA with a 25 recoil cover.

Where would I find a copy of the "Poulan branded timeline chart" that you mention

Thanks,

I believe I have XL-12 parts saws with both Prestolite and Wico ignitions. I know some of them have the studs, but I can't remember if any have the bolts. If the worn spot you're refering to on that single pawl is on the short tail end of it (that's what I see in the pic) then it's still serviceable. This weekend I'll look at my parts saws to see what I can spare, and will look at that LONG NOS Homelite parts list again.

I agree Mike. To be certain, he could pull the muffler and look in the ex port. The 38cc saws have a bridged exhaust port IIRC.

Well we were both wrong. I had forgot that Poulan made a 2000 AV saw for a very short time. 99% of the time that single handle AV was on the 2300 AV.

Went and checked one of my 245s, and guess what? It's a 245 manual oiler! Now I have pics of the stickers...
