You're probably right but you can pull the muffler and see if it has thin or thick rings. 3400 has thick rings and as you stated a chrome piston.

Bob

Dont need to pull muffler. :msp_wink: I have the whole cylinder off. Bare bore and chrome piston. Being I said chromed piston I didnt figure any need to mention the rings.

Any of you guys know if the member that stated he was ordering 2 poulan 415 clutch covers from Sears had any luck getting them in or not?

After over a month, I called to see what was going on. They said they'd check and get back to me.......the next day, I got an email saying my order had been cancelled. So much for having 400 in stock!:msp_angry:

I had a similar experience with the 200/300 series crank seal I ordered from Sears a few months ago and never received. Got the tractor parts I ordered, but not the seal (and I almost ordered a bunch to have on hand and distribute amongst the group here). Gonna contact Sears AGAIN right now. Ordered the damn thing in April, and the status on that part (530001936) is STILL "Part has been processed in the system, but status from the supplier is not yet available". If you look up the part numbers for the seals (this one, and 530019042), the system sez they're in stock (so you can order them). Glad I didn't tie up a buncha money in seals I'll probably never get. Something told me to reduce the quantity of seals (to 1) before submitting the order. Glad I listened to that something. I only have $5.49 or so tied up right now....:bang:

Just got an email response. Looks like I got through to somebody. Let's see what happens....

Original Message Follows:

Message: I need to know why I haven't received my 530001936 seal
yet. I ordered this part over three months ago.

"Part has been processed in the system, but status from the supplier
is not yet available." is the status info I get from the computer
system. Incredibly, if I search for this part in the partsdirect
system, it is STILL listed as in stock (so others can order it and
tie up their money I guess).

This is unacceptable. THREE + months with no contact or updates?
Really? When I worked for Sears Service in the 1990's this sort of
thing would have NEVER been allowed to happen. I realize that I have a
small amount of money tied up here, but that's not the issue. I
almost ordered seveal seals (as I have several chainsaws to
restore), but changed the order quantity to 1 before submitting my
order. I'm glad I did, or I WOULD have a large amount of money tied
up with no satisfaction.

Please resolve this matter ASAP.

And here's the final answer. No seals, and I'm FINALLY getting my money back after almost four months. Not happy...

Dear Aaron,

The item(s) ordered on 04/10/2012 for order #XXXXXXXX is (are) discontinued. There is no authorized substitution for the item(s) at this time. A credit will be issued in the original form of payment for the part, plus any applicable tax. Applicable shipping charges will also be refunded and will appear as a separate credit if the original payment method was by credit card.

We apologize for any inconvenience

To top it all off...........................the seals are STILL shown as being in stock and available for order on the partsdirect site......:bang:

As a former employee of a company that had millions of parts, take it from me...The part could be in stock..the question is, where in stock are they? Parts get lost by these big outfits all the time. Sometimes they end up in salvage which basically means they get thrown away.

Been meaning to post these....

Thanks for posting the great Poulan advertisements!! I got a kick out of the part in the 4200 advertisement about "an over-size washable air filter". I know that design air filter was used on the 4200/4400/5200 saws.........what other models used it??

Will soon be working with a guy in the aftermarket air filter business to explore the "re-do" possibilities of de-flocked air filter carcasses.

Spur sprocket

I bought a saw off eBay and the seller said it is .325 sprocket and indeed the replacement Oregon bar is .325. How can I check the spur sprocket to be sure it is also. Just would like to be sure it's setup correctly.

Take it off and on the back side it should say what it is. You can also take it off and drape the chain around it and make sure all the drive links match to each drive tooth correctly.

I have tried to look at the back side while the sprocket is on but you just cannot get a good look. Maybe a dental mirror and flash light, then look for the writing.

335 air filter.

I am shocked that I cannot find a replacement air filter for my 335. Of all the items that would still be available that is the one thing I think should still be around. It is a consumable item I would think that gets replaced ever so often and they should have made a ton of these. But none to be had.

Also during my search I find that a Partner 11 uses the same air filter. Well as they say I will have to make do with what I have.

I thought about using a dental mirror but don't have one handy.

I had a 335 last year or year before and had just bought a new filter before sale. I have a list of all the different filters and models that 335 takes somewhere. I remember flocked and mesh ones available. Just bought dad a new 3300 filter too, I think it was the same.

Man if they have went NLA this year that sucks.

Friday is roller nose day!!

Hit a couple small engine shops, today, and made a score of roller nose bars. The bottom 2 are NOS Sears roller nose bars. The top one is worn, but will work on a shelf queen....They were freebies!!!!!:hmm3grin2orange:

Not sure if they'll fit any of my Poulans, though...:msp_sad:

I have a couple of good part numbers 530010892, and looked and looked on line but all the places that I found show no longer available. If you have a good source that would be great and I would be impressed.

These two were $10. Top one is a chromed Remington, and the other an Oregon (which works on one of my 245s....

The old bars sure are neat looking. There something about the round circle at the end that just gives them a distictive look. Very nice. Plus I do not believe I have seen any with a sears logo before, but I am not a long time collector like many here are.
