i need to know what the top $ price would be for these? each? i have gone through both saws and changed, fuel lines, filters, plug, de burred bar, sharpened chain, cleaned muffler/screen, new duck bills, clean/rebuilt carburetor as well as did a full tear down and clean of saws. they start run and idle as they should.View attachment 248439

Runners have brought decent money on feePay, but I'm sure that the profit margins are slim. The green Poulan case is a plus. Here's your photo...

Thats a nice pair of 25's for sure and like Chris says the case's can be a selling point to some.

There is no NADA/Kelly Blue book for saws for better or worse and it seems they bring different prices all the time so its hard to say what they would bring.

In the end, there your saws so you have to decide what they are worth to you but a buyer will set the final value as what they will pay will be the final verdict.

You can look up completed listings on Ebay for a round about idea but I would think they should be worth a $100 or so.

Right now ebay is having a "special" buy it now sale until Aug 18, I think. Just list your saws as a buy it now and set your own price. If it doesn't sell it costs you nothing. You can also add a best offer to your buy it now if you wish, if you'd take any less than your BIN price. I sold a couple this week using this method.
I don't know if this applies to all sellers however..

The profit margin on almost any Poulan saw on ebay is indeed slim. After you pay the final value fee, shipping fee, paypal fee, plus the price you paid for it plus repairs, the saw has to sell kinda high to realize any profit. Craigslist offers an alternative for free but it's mostly for local sales. Poulan 25s are a very underappreciated item, rarely bring enough to make it worth your while. I keep my 25s for wood cutting and sell Stihl, Husky, and Echo when possible.

thanks for the input guys, i do the small engine thing as a hobby (buy broken fix/repair and sell) i do have CAD on occasion. i actually have a few buyers already but want to be fair to them on the prices. They are old time tree guys that actually use these saws still today as limb saws. i truly enjoy the old Poulans more than any other saw company. i am quick to call when one becomes available etc. i think i will offer the buyer choice in the range of $150-$200. depending on which one they would like.

Hope you gat it as I have 6. Most S25's I've seen go for less than $100.00 and more in the $75. range. There's one guy who regulary sells some he fixes up, and his starting price generally is $69.

It's kind of insulting to take a nice 25, clean it up, repair anything that's wrong, get it running like a new one, only to find that it's only worth $30 on ebay. A dirty, trashed out Stihl that will never run again can bring as much as $100 or more.

The old time tree guys in your area will actually pay that kind of $money$ for a used refreshed S25? My Poulan 5400 should be worth around $1,000.00+ :D.

Chris, i was told they would pay up to $250.00 each for them but i think that was high, i charge $40.00 an hour to work on small equipment plus parts so that is where i come up with $ amount most of the time. What i was told is that there are not to many 38cc top handles that light out there any more. I do not claim to know much about saws though (i am just a backyard small engine mechanic). What i will say is this, if you are a guy who actually uses his saws for work you would pay for it with your first job and than some. Most folks here would never be able to use all of the saws they have and are shelf Queens anyway. I have some myself but all of my saws are ready to go to work anytime i need them too. Well i will offer them @ $150-$200 and go from there.

Palmer, i agree with your statement, I enjoy fixing up broken small engine equipment and turning for a small profit. i charge $40 an hr to fix plus parts. that is where i usually get my asking price. i stay away from E-bay and only sell locally. if i don not get what i am asking for than i keep it. Someone who knows what these saws are and appreciates them will come along one day.

redunshee, what would you think is a fair price for one of your S25's? do you use them regularly? for work? can you send a few pics? i am always looking to see nice old Poulans and you have lots. Thanks Acornhill.

From what I've read on Arboristsite, and seen on eBay & Craig's List, the larger the chainsaw the better your chances of turning a decent profit on a refreshed/rebuilt saw (if the costs of carb kits, fuel line, misc parts, & your time are more or less equal). Basically, a $10.00 small saw needing $30.00 in parts won't turn the same profit as a $30.00 large saw needing $30.00 in parts.

There are exceptions depending on the demand for the make & model. No doubt a MS200T in reasonably repairable condition bought for a good price would be worth repairing for resale, while some common large saws wouldn't be worth the repair expense.

I wish you the very best in your sales! Hopefully the market for the top-handle Poulans in your area is strong.
