Ok I confess. That saw was not the cheapest but it was just what I was looking for.
Your welcome :msp_wink:

If you need an OEM piston I know a guy who knows a guy who has one that was bought when he purchased the contents of a closed down JRed/Dolmar shop......
looking at a craftsman branded poulan 3.7 at a pawn shop. p&c look really nice. been stored 6-8 months with fuel. starts with prime but won't idle down. didn't want to try adjusting the idle and L and H screws cause the owner offered to drop the price to $50 based on it not idling down. if it won't adjust down and its the seals how hard are seals to replace on this saw. done it on others and other than being a pita it wasn't hard. i'm assuming the same. also needs new air filter and chain. otherwise looks pretty good. watchall think? go for it?
I picked these up today along with a homelite 330 engine (it has the duel port muffler cover), a 22" roller nose bar, and a old cardboard reel of 7/16" poulan chain (for hemyota).
The 25DA runs, but smokes...seems like it's getting bar oil in the cylinder.
the 306a started then died with fuel spiting out of the muffler...easy fix...inlet issue or something.
both saws cleaned up nice, I pretty pleased with the 2 of them.
That makes 3 306 saws, and 3 of the 25DA saws though 2 are in craftsman colors.

So who got the 475 full wrap west coast saw? All I got was another 505 parts saw missing a lot :msp_biggrin:
Jim those 2 were my first and second saws ever. Heated my house for years with those two. Took 25 years to wear the 25 out and that was when I cut lots and lots of wood.
I seen a oiler diaphram on auction the other day if you need one for the 25. There getting harder to find.
Thanks Mark! Hey, as I was looking at the saws in the back of my truck I envisioned what you might say about them...all I could come up with was:
"Where's my 8 dollars for shipping?" lol They did remind me I owe you that, sorry for the delay

If it looks good and seems to be sound I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I'm thinking just needs the fuel system reworked.
I appreciate that offer. When I get the saw I will pull the muffler and have a look see and determine if it needs one. Thanks.
Check the seals very closely. Just going by the way he listed the saw.
I have only had 1 not need seals from the get go so far.
If its seals I'd guess it would be the clutchside seal as that's the one that seems to leak. They are no harder to change than any other saw. However I'd rebuild carb first and replace fuel and vent line and see how it runs
