Last new S25-CVA upper front AV mount I saw on feebay went for close to $20 plus shipping at least a year ago. I have the search for that Poulan part number in my feebay 'saved searches'. The lower handlebar AV mounts still show up from time to time. The rear handle AV buffers (near the tank) are super easy to find (comparitively). My guess is that hardly anyone ever had to buy replacements for those (unlike the top and bottom handlebar AV mounts), so there's lots of NOS still around. I'd be very interested in a 'fix' (or reasonably priced NOS parts) for the upper front AV mount. The ones I have on my runners will most likely die long before the rest of the saw give up, and I don't have any spares (got two 'spare' broken ones however)...

Randy if these fellows can't hook you up with S25 clutch parts I can probably send you a complete used setup from a parts saw.

I tried sending a couple PMs, which didn't go through (probably a good thing for me) because a couple of folks need to make room in their PM box.

I'm going to :taped: now, because sometimes the fall from a :angrysoapbox: can be a long one.

Wow! I havn't been on here much lately. A bunch of you guys sure have come up with some real nice Poulan additions to your collections.:msp_thumbup:
I havn't added any in quite some time.:( But, some of the ones I do have, have been getting a work out lately. As long as the weather co-operates with some less stiffling temps. Way behind on my wood cutting so far this year.:msp_angry:

Anyway, the other day I was bored, and was searching around the web for Poulan related stuff. Found this logo, and wanted to know if any of you know what Poulan products, and or what time frame this logo was used for? Don't think I have ever seen it before.

Gregg,

Had noticed you weren't on here much lately, Gregg. Thought maybe you were getting ahead on you firewood. Haven't seen that logo before. Looks like you have another one to add to your sig.

Question is, if you haven't been cutting firewood, what's her name? :hmm3grin2orange:

Steve,
LOL,:msp_scared: Lord in heaven NO! Been there, done that. Never to be repeated! I would rather deal with old Poulans with bad cylinders, stuck rings, leaky seals, missing clutches, broken bar studs, cobbled up starter ropes....etc. These are about as much fun, less agrivating, deffinately cheaper! Don't believe I have ever had a Poulan chainsaw, suddenly develop a "headache" when I wanted to play or work with her.:D

That logo looks to me like it might be the tip of a sprocket nose bar. Just don't recall ever seeing it.
Gregg,

I was thinking brush clearing blade....

That thought crossed my mind too Nik. I was thinking too, it might have been a Canadian Poulan logo. But then I guess if any one would know...you would.:msp_biggrin:
Seems to me I have seen those colors on a Canadian chain brake cover decal once. Maybe I'm dreaming.

Gregg,

I picked up this 8500 today for little of nothing and found it to have a scored cylinder. The cylinder may be salvagable from the aluminum build up but I noticed a lot of hair line looking cracks in the plating. I found some cylinders on ebaty but wondered whats the chance of finding a good used one? I think this ol' girl will be fun to run.

Same cylinder as the 5200. Good luck finding a piston.

I might have the clutch Mark......I have a "box o Poulan" under the bench. If not I'll be around. :D

Everything is missing from the stub out.....

AV mount blues huh??????

Is there a decent "fix"?????

Here is the only one I could find Randy.

I did come up with a fix but I can't tell you what it is.
I found this buffer but I don't know what it is from.
Can any of you tell me???

I have been looking for a big saw, in the exact condition that you have. I intend on building a 100+ cc saw, but didnt want to chop up a runnning one. If you would want to ship that to 15834 zip,
donors would be accepted...... :)

That looks like the upper buffer bracket from a Stihl 031.

It is similar in design to the stihl AV mount, but it's smaller and 'tilted' (offset towards one side) while the stihl part is larger and 'square'. I have two torn ones like the mount pictured, and need at least one good one for a S25-CVA that I'm rebuilding. A spare (or three) would be nice to have on hand in case any of my 30+ year old 'good' AV mounts fail. I hope we can figure out what saw that rubber AV buffer with the internal threads and the flange in the middle of it (that Mike pictured as his 'fix') is intended for (and it's still available).:msp_thumbup:

saw a red 3.7 craftsman branded poulan yestiddy at a pawn shop. said he'd come down to $65. saw appears to be in good shape but air filter missing some flocking and chain is on its last sharpening. 20" bar in good shape.
haven't pulled the muffler but if p&c look good and it will pop is that a good price? seems just a bit high to me but i don't know.

I'd take it at $60 or less.
