Joe's 4000.......

Joe, excellent find! That saw is so clean I can't believe it. Someone mentioned a decal for it. I say put it on and be done with her, as it surely deserves it. Well, the decal and maybe a new chain. Did any tools, manuals, or a case come with it? Was it stored in a case, or was the owner just meticulous about his gear? Best, Max.

Joe's 4000

Joe, that is the best one I have seen! I thought Brad Snelling's 4000 was the best I ever saw, but I think yours just might be the newest looking one I ever seen. Kinda like ya went back in a time machine to get that..LOL

Yes, they were expensive in their day! I paid just about $300 with tax for my 3400 in 1985-86.

I have some decals for that also Joe. I wasn't tickled with the upper clutch side decal, so I am going to try and make a new version. I'll send ya both when ever I get it made..:)

My green 4000 is looking up also, I put a black shroud on it, replacing the green one. And, a super new "ModifiedMark" muffler.
Also have a new Windsor Speed tip bar comming also.

Gregg,

Gregg,

How did I know that was gonna happen???:dizzy:

You are a fine feller (not the tree feller type feller the Kentuckian for fellow type feller) Gregg!

Thanks Guys! To answer some questions....The saw unfortunately didnt come with the case, manuals etc. The guy didnt strike me as someone who was obcessive about cleaning their saws (like me), I think he bought it, cut the brush and put it away for 25 years. I lucked out not many guys bought a $600 pro saw to cut some twigs. It looks like the chain hasnt ever been sharpened even! It is a bada$$ looking saw. I find the 3400-4000 saw the best "looking" saws. The 4000 with the high intake is perfect.

Thanks for the Decals Gregg! get soem pics of your saw up.

Mark can you tell me if Clutch cover Part 530011176 rings a bell ? or a Fan housing 530012034 those are some items i wish to find homes for

The fan housing is found on a 3700 IPL and I didnt look but it should be the same as 3400-4000 saws.

I don't have time to search all them IPLs for those rings so I dont know off hand.

That 54 air filter will also fit a 71-A which I have. My birthday is coming up. :)

Hey Mike! As far as I know, I don't think I would be breaking any laws by mailing some of those to Kentucky also.:)
If ya got a saw that needs a sprucing up, just PM me your address, and I'll see what I can come up with.

To my knowledge the sand cast saws used 3 different filters. The 86/90 series and similar used long cylindrical one that is larger in diameter than the 54/72 style air filter. The 33/32/K100 used a stubby round air filter. The real old sand cast like the model b may have used some odd paper or element type filters.
