High guys. I posted about a Poulan saw that was given to me earlier this summer, I was supposed to get a pic up for Mike but I ended up getting into some other projects. This pic I have for you guys probably won't help much, I took the top shroud off of it as well as the hand guard (style that is mounted to the front handle of the saw, not the shroud) and clutch cover before taking the pic. I know better but I was figuring I could identify the saw by cylinder bore but am not having much luck. The saw bore is right around 48mm using a zip tie through the exhaust port to take the measurement. I was thinking that maybe I have a 4200 or one similar in size. It is a Countervibe, there is a silver recoil on it, the filter cover has the single screw on the top and the chain tensioner is built into the clutch cover and is partially exposed. The saw also has the thin piston rings. I don't think I need to do much with this one, it has spark and the piston and bore that I can see through the exhaust port is pristine. Fuel lines are rotted off and I am sure I will need a carb kit.

Does anybody know of a chart or have the part numbers for some of the Poulan and Poulan Pro decals for some of the older saws such as 2800,3000,3750,335,336,Etc. They don't seem to be in any of the ipl's I have for the saws. I bought a couple decals off ebay for my 3450 and got the part numbers of them off of them when they showed up. It would be nice to have a number to research some nos stuff thats out there. Thanks.

Maybe this will explain why your having trouble finding the decal part numbers....

I found this saw locally 5 min from my house which is rare but nice. I was told the saw had no compression. I pulled it over and hmmmm, it didnt feel like a low compression saw. Didnt sound like it either. But hey for the price it was right and no shortage of parts on it. Took it home and pulled the muffler, P/C looks pretty good, no need to pull jug, certainly no significant scoring. Pull the A/F cover and NO PLUG! Guess Ill just have to make another runner.;)

It looks just like this 3400 but with a black filter cover and silver recoil.

When I get some extra time I might pop off that cylinder and get a good look at the piston and it. If it looks good I will definetly look for a parts saw for it...or who knows...this one might turn into a parts saw itself if I find a better looking one.
It's basically identical to a Jonsered 2040, except for the top cover and recoil housing. As said, not much in common with the Wild Thingys.

I believe from your bore measurements, thin rings and the black filter cover that you have a 3700.

A silver recoil cover has to be a repaint.

Thanks Mark! How do you like this model, I don't know a ton about Poulans but I do like the way this one is built.

I like em alot, the 3700 is pretty strong as is but with a muffler mod there even stronger.

I got 2 of em.

I starting to broaden my saw horizons a little, I want to see what these older Poulans are about. Some day too I will find another PP415, I am glad that one ended up in good hands.

Post up the picture of your top handle Ridgid sometime if you will. I have a couple Poulan based Ridgid's.

No problem, next time I go out to the shop I'll try to get a couple for you. That thing is tiny, I don't think I have ever seen a saw that small.

Here's a low hour Poulan 455... same as Pioneer P45. I got the saw from member SilverKing. He's a great guy, the saw is better than he made it to be. The piston and rings still have the machine marks. I found the new bar on ebay. 72cc with a factory 3rd transfer.

Sweet!

replacement pulley

whilst searching out a replacement pully for my s25cva, i found some being sold as an OEM aluminium replacement for the plastic one which can still be bought also. The question i had is did Poulan make this as an aftermarket fitment just to the s25cva, and was it available to other models? it looks identical to the plastic one obviously, just wondered why they were so hard to get hold of?, or why it wasnt metal in the first place.

I know technically a plastic one should suffice, but they obviously felt a need to make them.....

They did make em out of metal in the first place. You probably got a old stock version.
