245

Hi, I have been working on getting a running 245 together from a couple of saws I got on eBay. They have different ignition setups and the plug wire is bad on the one that is in the best shape. Is there a way to switch the plug wire from the saws I see a wire sticking out and bent over opposite the wire on the coil, can I straighten out the wire and pull it out and swap it with the other (points style) or am I wrongly thinking that they are removable. Do I need to go another route such as changing the ignition setups, flywheel and all. Also the one with a cracked plug wire is the one the guy had running. I did not try to start it before I started the ring job. the one with the points ign is a super auto and idk about the running status of that one as the piston is badly scored I just needed some mag from it .
Thanks, Nick.

I have two red Craftsman 3.7s, (Ropers) that I want to paint

I thought maybe I wanted some of whatever you was on. My buddy just got his Allis painted and I've got a Craftsman 3.7 and the two don't match up good at all. :D

Please let me know what you finally decide is a good match.
Thanks,
Larry

I have an all metal Poulan" S25 PRO" (orange) that I would like help with.

It is actually yellowish orange in what I was told is a teardrop shape. It is a top handle. It says S25 PRO on the recoil decal. On the starting instructions it says "Type I" and then has a serial #.
Can anyone tell me about this since all I have found are the S25 DA's.

Poulan 25DA pouring oil

The saw has the manual and auto oiler on it. Everything else is in good shape. When the saw is running it pours oil out at the oiler hole at the bar. Leaving the saw on the floor afterward there will be a big puddle of oil under it the next day. How can this be fixed or is it worth fixing? If it is the Oiler diaphragm is there anyway to block it off to only use manual oiler?

It looks like this saw on Ebay.

I found this diaphragm, is it the right one and dang what a price.

Define pours.... It is made to oil all the time when it's running. Stick the pointy end in a log to absorb the oil.

Probably looks something like this one. This is basicaly the same as other S25DA's, just newer, and in Poulan Pro colors. Only thing that looks different, would be this model has an extended bar/clutch cover, that also covers the muffler.

LOL, Well the field right behind is, but not the tree line in the distance. Lucky to live here though, 160 acres, with two woodlots. One is 16 ac. the other 10ac. Can actually run saws, shoot guns, etc. and the neighbors don't complain. At least not YET!:hmm3grin2orange:

LOL, This summer, my sisters family was visiting. My brother in law, two nephews, all love to shoot. Couple other folks were there too. We shot all kinds of guns for about 3 hours, on a Sunday afternoon. At the end, someone suggested we all load em up and empty them as fast as we could. We had all kinds of semi auto pistols, along with my M1 carbine, all puking their mags at the same time. Never did see a Sheriff's car or no one called to complain. Maybe they were to scared to complain. :ices_rofl:

The S25Pro and The S25DA are the same saw IMHO, I don't know of any differences (except for color). The difference between the Ty 1 and Ty 2 (that I know of) is the ty2 has an extended clutch cover that actually comes back and covers the muffler, that the only thing I know of but if there is more I will be corrected.

Thanks all for the info on the S25.

I need to get into the shed to check for the clutch cover extension.
Does anyone know of a website that has the Poulan models by manufacture date? This is pushing it but how about serial #s?.

There ain't no such animal that several of us have been able to find!!!
It seems like the Poulan folks back then though they were only making TOOLS and not something a bunch of "green blooded geeks" would be collecting in the future!!! :dizzy:

EZRYDER,
I found another pic of my PP S25DA, Shows the right side cover.
A lot of the yellow Poulan Pro saws will usually have a date on a tag somewhere on them. The older green Poulan saws, not so much. Best you can do is, usually narrow it down to within a couple years or so. At least some of the smarter fellows here can.:msp_thumbup:
