This saw right here is the saw that started my POULAN CRAZE and it's also pretty much the reason that I have CAD. My dad purchased this 306A from a older guy down the road from us when I was maybe 7 and I'm 37 now. The saw has never had anything done to it besides fuel lines and filters in it life. Used to love to stand in the woods and listen to this poulan growl. Dad dropped it off for me to keep a few days ago.

Wow. Great running saw doesn't seem to change tune much at all in the smaller wood from WOT. I will be impressed if my Dayton runs like that. Hell, I'm impressed with yours! Forget about mine.

Thats the nice thing about the older poulans is they run where they run and the torque does'nt drop off like the newer saws and they are dependable as the sun comming up tomorrow along with running forever!!!

Poulan S6000. Runs like a beast. Still holds 165lbs of compression

Thank you. I bought the Dayton pretty quickly after I saw it on eBay. Turned out to be a nice guy to buy from. I liked the fact that it had the manual decomp. That was just luck on my part because I bought it before I even new there was two setups. Yes, that is a 4000 setting behind the Dayton. It made a trip to Randy and had the cylinder base resurfaced which raised the compression a little along with new rings.

I'd rather have that later style 'button' type decomp setup on my saw. Not a big fan of the 'integrated' decomp/throttle lock setups (although I have a few saws of various American makes that have 'em).

Oregon 32062 a good number for a sprocket/drum on a 306A?

How about a number for a rim drive drum?

Carl the same rim drive drum that fits the 4200-5200 Poulans works on the 200/300 series saws. Poulan #530048001 (still available from some Poulan parts sources). The current Oregon number for this rim drive drum is 23706X.

Parts available for sale posts

Poulan Lovers,

Some of you may have noticed that I found a small engine repair man about an hour from my house that is clearing out Poulan NOS saw parts. I have been posting what he is coming up with in case anyone on here is in need of those parts. It's sort of my way of helping some guys out as a small thanks for all the great info and help I have received from many of you.
I don't get anything out of this but don't want to tick anyone off doing this.

Are you guys OK with this or should I keep them all for me?

Tim

keep it up. rep when i can

so, my red craftsman 3.7 has chromed piston, aluminum bore, and THIN rings. what poulan model is it equivalent to? please don't tell me it should have thick rings since i just ordered thin rings.

If it has thin rings it's a 3700
Thick rings, 3800

If it has the chromed piston and aluminium bore, it's a 3800. I think someone on here said there were a few red 3.7's that were 3800's.

mine are definitely thin rings. ordered the new rings from parts tree using the craftsman no. can't say what the number is since i'm out of town for the early part of this week. guess i'll see when the rings come in. may have some thick rings for sale soon.

You guys with those fancy digital weighing scales. I doubt my vegetable scale is very accurate. ;)

Kitten-In-Scale.jpg

Take the weights of a PHO 335 or 3300 or 3000 or 305 and a 330 or 3450 or 3750 or . Just 1 saw of each series in the 335 and 330 range.

Just always wondered the weight difference in them.
