while i am waiting on the flywheel i started cleaning this beast up i removed the duck tape from the handles and found the original rubber on the front handle was there and in good condition. the rubber on the bottom of the rear handle was there but torn a little so i re taped it with black grip tape (it looks better).

also i pulled the clutch to get at the drive rim and found that it was an OREGON clutch and rim but the number on it is not listed on there sight.

it is a .404" pitch 8 tooth rim i am wondering if any one still has a good one and possibly the drum.

a rim is listed on the OREGON web sight but it is a 7 tooth rim and i was wondering how it would affect the saw in soft wood.

also i am wondering if full comp chain would be good to stay with on a 24" bar or if i should get some full skip.

It's just a standard 7 spline rim socket. You should be able to find it about any where.Full comp is fine on a 24" bar.Baileys have the rims, they are only 4 or 5 bucks, cheaper on sale.I have the book, but you might want to check their website.I doubt if you need a drum, but that shuoldn't be hard to find.

the issue is that it is not a 7 spline it is a six spline oregon drum ( 14036 )

i found the number for the rim ( 14031 ) need to email oregon to see if it is still available.

Aha,that is what Homelite used, rare as a hens tooth.I'm going to fire you off a pm,with a suppliers name.

Nice saw, i have a cp 125 in about that condition. It needs rings and things. It ran afue months ago with fuel down the carb, but it did not last time i tried. The guy that gave it to me pluged up the "DSP" so trying to start it is asking for some broken fingers. If any one knows where i can find thoes rings, please tell. Thanks

Its Alive...almost

well i got the flywheel prob fixed and reset ignition and wouldn't you know it ran for a while till i shut it down to put on bar and chain, then it flooded out really bad so i pulled the carb.

i found out a 600 lb gorilla must have owned this saw before me cause i need a new idle jet screw it bent in to shape of cork screw and i need a carb kit pump is ok but diaphram is all out of wack.

but it is not the tillotson listed on the chain saw collectors corner,

instead it is a Walbro SDC 20 in disguise ( McC logo on it.)

is there a kit for this carb still avalible? :Eye: :Eye:

Now it is really alive and cutting ( when it wants to )

well i put a new gasket under the carb and reset every thing and now it does run and cut strong. now i just need a little full comp full chisel square ground chain and it will really cut. ;)

Hi Oregon_Native, good to see someone else using an old sp 125.
I've got a couple myself, one working and one for parts. I use it on a regualar basis.
I've got a smaller 32inch bar, a 40 inch and a 48 inch. I've been using the 48 inch as a mill.
Copied the design from http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles/tresl39.html.
I've got given a yamaha RM125 exhaust, which I might fit on this winter. Probably quieter too.
Hope to see some more pics of your saw in action.

I got Video!

got the itch to cut today thought i would post a video this time i tryed to keep it small but this is as small as my software can get it and still be able to tell wats going on. :Eye: :Eye:

i have yet to tune the carb and the comp valve stick's open.

and i don't own a pair of chaps.

video is a tic over 1 min long, bobble in first cut was a piece of wood splitting off outside of log and jamming chain.

and at the end of the second cut i did touch pavement with the tip of bar it didn't kick but mangled cutting edge of chain on two teeth but about six links apart.

All that was,was audio,no picture .Fix that comp valve, tune that carb. That old hoss will run about 3 times as fast as the sound indicated.
