You were here for some good weather. Now, can you handle day after day after day of drizzle? Like November is, and December, and on into July? Best to ponder that before making a big change. I've never lived on the Warshington coast, but down the coast in Oregon, you stay home on the nice days, caulking windows, cleaning gutters and demossing roofs so they'll hold up on the stormy days. The wind usually was blowing and the storms seemed to jar the windows loose, hence the caulking. Oh, the rain comes down at a more horizontal angle on the coast.

Summers are foggy, which I liked because it would be 80 up in the woods which is too hot and I'd return to temps in the 50s....Ahhhhhhh. Nice. That was Oregon.

The wind can be handled with a nice windbreak of some kind on the deck. Preferably where you can still get sunlight, on a sunny day.

You go inland, open your suitcase, and your clothes, even though they are clean, smell a bit like mildew. You won't notice it at home.

Plan to be damp. Even with raingear on, you will be damp. Buy a boot drier, you'll need it. Learn to like synthetics or wool.

That's all for now. Three people...make three move away. Kind of like, Bring Me A Shrubbery...

I have always been picked up when there is some bad weather going on, even at work when I am right in it. Only thing I don't like is when the low temps freeze fishing water. .
Everyone, thankyou for the help by the way.

So if you got as far as Aberdeen and turned around you never even got to the Peninsula. There is OG along 101 2 miles north of my house at Neilton. Pretty much all OG in the Quinault valley above the lake. Then 101 turns west and you go onto the Res and back out of the OG.
Rain? It's been pretty dry the last few days, not more then a half an inch/day.
It's pretty dry south of about Humptulips. Spent a few winters on the Oregon coast and on average I thought the weather was nice. It rained but there were a lot of breaks.
I think you will find access to the streams for fishing is generally not a problem.

PSST... SECRET... there's a hojillion awesome little streams just boiling with cutthroats and rainbows. You just gotta explore. Everybody has a secret spot or two.

yes sir. 1 steely to day.:agree2:

Well, I did some more day tripping here in the last 24. Went to Portland then shot down almost to Crescent city and caught 199 back to 5. It was getting dark as we got on 5, but It was a real treat to see those fat trees even in the dim light! The smith river was also quite mesmerizing.

I want to live on the coast southern Oregon, between the trees, and the water, it is amazing. Going back in a few weeks to spend a few days, can't wait.

But now I must sleep!
