Six weeks vacation had come back to haunt me, ALL day up in a tree today, fine pruning and renovating topping cuts, no spikes, foot loops for the verticals....I am BUSTED!!!!

More tomorrow, at least the continuing work helps ease the kinks...now to make sure I wake up on time....:dizzy:

I'm whooped here too. Worked 10 days straight. Started yesterday with some pruning out of the bucket and ended it with a big climbing removal of a 28" pin oak over a house. We rocked the oak. Had it brushed out in 90 minutes. Chipped it and dingoed the wood out. (Dingos ROCK!) Got home right at dark. Bunch of removals today out of the bucket. Tomorrow more removals and pruning. Busy time of year. climb safe..... Mike

Today was rather easy sugar maple fine prune, but Friday and Saturday I was in some of the biggest bur oaks I've worked in a long time. Giant jungle-gyms that work like a stand of trees more then a single tree. Another foot shot, i looked at them for my client and told him to figure on around 7-8 hours for the first two, and I did them in 5. I coulda milked the clock for at least another hour, but i was so beat by the last section of the second tree that all I wanted was to go home and get in a hot shower

What's a vacation? ;)

Oh yeah, it's one of those things my wife keeps telling me we should take.:hmm3grin2orange:

Just curious Bermie. Where does someone from Bermuda go on vacation? Somewhere cold?

Dingo? Enlighten me please?

Get two, they're small! Excellent machines.

I am convinced I need one of those now... ever use the stump grinder attachment? I wonder how well it works compared to a stand-alone unit...

We've discussed the stump grinder attachments for mini skids on here before - probably in the large equipment forum - do a search and you should come up with something.

The general consensus was that they don't perform worth a darn on stumps larger than 12-15". For small stuff, they're ok but they don't come close to a 25hp sc252.

Here's my mini skid. They are absolutely worth their weight in gold!

The real debate is what type of grapple to use on them. Lots of different opinions but IMO it depends on what you want to use the mini for...

.

You will never get the flow-rate needed to work large hard wood out of a multi purpose machine. I know guys who hate skidstear grinders. The people who love them work mostly in pine/poplar country.

Then again if you do a lot of small ornamental remove/replace, then it may be worth the cost.

Yeah I've only had the dingo about a month but the crew and I wouldn't do without it now. It can move easily what would take 5+ trips by hand. So much better than a tractor. No lawn damage. And I can go through very narrow areas, (trees, gates). Makes life so much easier. And I bought it for a steal. .... Mike
