I complained about the safety can when I first saw and used it
it's the stupidest thing I have ever seen pushed down our throats.
Whats safe about a five gallon can that if gets upset will leak, and if in your truck could be a definate fire hazard. I always support safety but this can is not safe and does not operate well. I may be the only one that feels this way but my first can was a tin gallon with flexible spout and it was safe easy to operate. I had a another can once that was red metal and had screw on cap no problem either! I have seen info on no spill can but so far they are not for gas use ok I am through ranting over a long going pet peav

STUPID!

You asked for it. :hmm3grin2orange:

You're stupid!

And probably ugly too!

Hey, you're welcome. Glad to help. No charge for the extra insult.

Dunno about the safety cans. Me, I like the old fashioned galvanized cans that TSC sells, that are clearly labeled, "NOT FOR GASOLINE". Wink, wink. :D

ropen, repeat after me

" I never did mind about the little things"

why are you getting worked up over gas cans? small potatos, Bud.

STUPID!!

jk ...... A few years ago I heard about metal gas cans exploding .. Supposedly people would be refilling them in the back of their trucks (which had bedliners) and the can riding on the bedliner would cause a static buildup and could ignite. I've heard that is one reason that they switched to the plastic ones. I dunno though....

Which gas can are you using? I'm curious so I don't buy one. I use the plastic cans with the spill-proof nozzle on the end. They work great IMO and don't make a mess or leak.

I just looked up exploding gas cans and apparently it happened/happens (lol):

Fires from static while filling are a very real danger, nothing to kid about. It's not just with plastic bedliners, OR plastic cans, either. Just getting in and out of your truck can sometimes be enough to generate a static charge that will make enough spark to ignite fumes. It's all downhill from there!

Say, ropensaddle, you didn't really think you could get away with posting a thread with a title like that, did you? I mean, you DID ask for it! :D

Sounds like something for MYTH BUSTERS. They like fiery exploding things.

Ok I will try to explain, the plastic cans you are talking about are not supposed to be carried on a motor vehicle. That metal linkage spill hazard
they call a safety can is what they want you to use. I am actually wondering
how a spilling fuel can could even have the word safe associated with it
and understand its not as apt to burst but design could have been much better with lead burst plug! like the ones on commercial trucks! Them cans
were issued to me at a company trimming powerlines and where manditory
to be used as a fuel can! The one they gave me was missing the funnel
and more fuel was spilled out of these cans than the oil out of the valdese!
How is an environmentally unfriendly can allowed to be made manditory as
a fuel can? Well I can't figure that one out but as you nice friends here have confirmed i'm stupid so does that entitle me to use cans not labeled proper
for use on fuel ????? If so I am through ranting:dizzy: :dizzy:
