Been thinking about getting a top handle saw and found a very clean looking craftsman (like the one in the pic/link) for $40. I assume it's an older rebranded poulan. Anything I should watch out for? Should I save my $ up for a Stihl 192? Anyone use one of these?
I will only being doing small limbs but they will be maple and oak.

I tried to search but the archives seem to be down after yesterdays hack.

I have a older craftsmen 2.0 that was given to me for free and its not a bad saw. If I was looking to use it every day though I think I would look at some of the other saws out there. I use mine for the crappy jobs like cutting up skids and so on. Plus its my loaner saw for everybody else.

Those are good little saws for the money. Lots of information on them in the Poulan thread.

I forgot to add - make sure to check the oiler and put in new fuel lines and a carb kit. There are what they call duckbill check valves in them that allow crankcase pressure to drive the oiler (no gears to run the oiler, just crankcase pressure).

Poulan 1800 or 2000. Not bad little saws when tuned correctly. Maybe a 2300, never know. There was no logic when Sears bought them by the train load. And yes, the rooster tail out of the carb is normal.

If anyone want any of these or parts for them, hit me up.... I have crap loads of them.

Looks very similar to a Poulan 2000 to me. I have one and it cuts fine for small limbs and trimming. Heck for 40 bucks you will do fine with it. Just keep a sharp chain on it.
