Good score Ron. That's an early 5000+.

Tnx Ed,,,,have another with a black top i "thought" was a 5000+ but now i wonder..

how to tell the diff ??

seems maybe sumthin to do with closed port or open ??
bore maybe ??

i seem to remember even the 5000+ only said 5000 on the metal tag,, ? correct ?? no tags had 5000+ on them ??

I have several 5000+'s... they all say 5000 on the tag. (no +) Yours appears to be 100% time period original, so I'm just going off the decals.
To be 100% sure if it's a 5000+, it will have the closed port jug. The only way to tell is to pull the jug, or look into the exhaust port. You kinda need a trained eye to look at the upper transfer and tell if it's open or closed by looking through the exhaust port. My computer is at Best Buy being worked on as we speak... I'm on my sons laptop and don't know how to do the picture thing on this one. The open port will have a perfect 90 degree edge towards the intake side. The closed port will have a more rounded edge. The bore is the same.

The 5000+/5000/500 never had a black top, but that's not to say somebody swapped it with a Poulan Pro 325 top. The PP325 is the only black top cover that would fit it. The Jred 490/590 has a black top also, but use a completely different air filter cover that won't work with a 500/5000/325 top cover.

Yep, that's a PP325 top cover. Most likely from Mark.
I have NOS caps, I'd be happy to send you one. Is the oil cap good?
Is your address still 37?

if you do let me know how much and i will pass it on.
no need to give him free caps..

now to check my other saw to try and see what it is..

Pulled the plug and looked in with inspection light.
could see intake side of port curved.
with piston at TDC i could see bottom of port so is a closed port :)

I didn't send the caps yet. Need anything for the other one?

Yeh,,somebody to get it started for me !!

got spark,gas,no fire ??
maybe loses spark under compression,,tried several plugs :(

this one got me stumped.

Check the flywheel key. Some flywheels have two slot locations. It needs to be in the one labeled 5.
This maybe a newbee ?? But what does the term T-port equipped cylinder referring to?

It was an exhaust port design to help lower the compression for easier starting I believe. I'm not 100% sure though.

Niko

I tried scanning the Partner info and can't seem to find where it went. :msp_confused:
I'll have to just take pics of the literature and post it like that. More to come over the next several days.
I have a lot of service bulletins.
Here's one I never heard of.

A guy dropped off a Partner 70 here and said it cuts bad. It has a .050 gauge chain on a .058 bar but the bar is worn where I put an .063 gauge chain on it and it slides nice without binding.

Also notice the bar says 76 drive links but counted 75 on current chain.

Bar is a roller nose but the rivits are loose. I tried a hammer and punch on a railroad track and they didn't tighten. The roller is no where near binding so I guess I will let it ride.

Going to get some .063 chains for him. Should I get 76 DL then?

Also the rim is completely worn out. Does it use a standard large rim like Stihl uses?

Also what other models use this bar mount?

FIrst Partner I have ever seen around these parts

76DL would indicate a 22" bar.

Yes it should use a standard Oregon rim and a large mount Husky bar will fit it.

Should have come and seen me last spring at the GTG, I had some Partners around your parts then. LOL
