I fought that dang tube for a while on mine, I finally cut it off about a inch from the tank fitting and slipped a Homelite duckbill valve on the tube. End of troubles.

You have to make sure the o ring is good on the fitting and that its tight in the tank as well.
Yes,its difficult to get this tube in place. Also very important is this felt washer with alu Cap This prevents plugging the slotted screw with dirt!

Thanks Gents,

I'll first check to see if during my tightening of the valve externally I did not turn the tube downwards into the fuel (I assume it would have been originally orientated toward the top?) If not, the duckbill valve internally is the way to go.

Would a duckbill from a Poulan 3400 work? I've got to replace one on a 3400 and would go ahead and just order two. Just not sure of the OD on that line or if the Homelite valves are smaller/larger in diameter? If not Mark, could I trouble you for a part number on that valve?

Nice, simple technology those duckbill valves are.

Thanks - Cory

The Poulan duckbill will also work just as well.

Good deal Mark. I inspected tonight and can't get that vent to stop spilling fuel unless I wrap that screw with teflon. I shone light in tank and the line is solid, intact and essentially straight. So, as you've suggested, I'll pull and reassemble that vent with the internal duckbill.

Can't wait to bury that saw in a nice fat Douglas or Larch once the mountains dry out a bit here.

Picked this one up on the way home from a camping trip today. Just had time to wipe her down. A not beaten down too much f55 dressed in Skil colours. No anti vibe but has a chainbrake. I was suprised it both fired up with minimal effort and had that distinctively sweet rumbling Partner sound I associate with my r440. Feels nice and compact and will be running well in short order. I imagine it will pull that 16" bar with a fresh lgx just fine. It will be my new camping/fly fishing saw for those lakeside pan fry lunches. They sure made distinctively nice looking saws IMO.

Picked this up off of eBay, K12 saw, looks just like my R12. Can anyone tell me more? It is a multi purpose saw correct? Can be used as a Chainsaw?uploadfromtaptalk1405618076616.jpg

i thought that mine was a p100, but it looks exactly like that inside and out except for the wrap handle and the dawgs... maybe thats what i have? mine has never been rebuilt, probably has 40 hours run time on it.
Sorry this is an old thread, but I've always had a thing for old Partners. What saw is in the last picture on your post? I think it's a R440 like the other pictures, but it doesn't look the same from that view. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been told there are quite a few differenses internally between the R440 and P100 - but don't remember any details or the sourse.
There also was a R40, before the 440.

The P440 had Bosch (I believe a points one), the 440T and the P100 Thyristor (Electronic), and the P100 Super Bosch Electronic - according to Acres site.

My P100 and Jonsered 1020 both have what is called the ignitron ign. Is that the same as Super Bosh? Not that I'm aware of. Acres strikes again?

Interestingly the Mac PM1000 seams to have a modern self contained coil/module on them.

The IPL for the P100 that I have show the same ign on them as the P100 Super as well.

I wish I would have documented and photoed all the differences between the R440T and the P100 but there more different then they are the same as far as I'm concerned.

I forget stuff as fast as I learn it anymore it seems but I remember the cases are different, the oiler setup is completely different, clutch and drum were different, carb, clutch cover, fan cover, muffler, ign, cylinder etc.

I was this deep into the R440.
