My P100 and Jonsered 1020 both have what is called the ignitron ign. Is that the same as Super Bosh? Not that I'm aware of. Acres strikes again?

Interestingly the Mac PM1000 seams to have a modern self contained coil/module on them.

Good questions that I don't know the answers to. There was of course a reason I named the sourse....

I wish I would have documented and photoed all the differences between the R440T and the P100 but there more different then they are the same as far as I'm concerned.

I forget stuff as fast as I learn it anymore it seems but I remember the cases are different, the oiler setup is completely different, clutch and drum were different, carb, clutch cover, fan cover, muffler, ign, cylinder etc.

I was this deep into the R440.

You may well have been the sourse, that I couldn't remember! :)

Any sources for p70 piston?

The Attached documets + one I for some reason couldn't upload about the P100 Super and PM1000 tels the following story:

- the P100 had the Ignitron transistor ignition by January 1979

- the P100 Super and the PM1000 had the Ignitron transistor ignition

- the 1020 had "solid state transistor" ignition, that I assume also was the same Ignitron.

Edit, se my next post!

Just found another document, that told there was a 2-piece Ignitron that was used on the P100, and a newer one-piece one that was used P100 Super.

Edit, attached the document.

I never seen a P100 Super with a one piece ignition, maybe the later ones did as like I said, every PM 1000 I have seen had the one piece ign, including the one I have now and the one I had before it. The PM 1000 Ipl that I have shows a Ignitron ign not the one piece.

Thats only a 36" bar, it pulls it fine.

The 440T is not a strong as a P100 though, I noticed that. The muffler itself is quite restricted compared to the P100 and probably accounts for some of the difference.

It looks like that at least some P100 Supers (+ 1020?) still had the Ignitron then, contrary to what some documents say.
I am not chocked, some confusion often are caused when a change in production is made close to a change in model designation, but not at the exact same time.

Here are a few scans from the Partner 1982 sales brochure. You can see it clearly list the Ignitron ign at that time. .....

Yes, but that isn't a P100 Super, as it looks to me.

Btw - according to info I had all the time, but didn't find last night , the PM1000 first must have been the P100, and only later the P100 Super - so many of them obviously had the 2-piece Ignitron.

You are correct, that is not a Super. That brochure came to me with my P70 from the original owner. I got a copy of the original sales receipt dated Feb 1982 and all the other paper work that came with it at the time of purchase. There is no date to be found on the brochure so I just assumed it was a 1982 brochure but I guess being that early in 1982 the dealer may have only had the prior brochure which appears to be prior to 1980. I edited my other post to show 1980 instead of 1982

The document you listed shows 1982 as the introduction year for the P100 Super.

Here is the IPL for the P100 Super showing the Ignitron ign used on them.

Ok so I think I've narrowed it down to 2 for the p70 50mm pistons, 506 09 90-71 non EPA or 506 38 46-02 EPA, both from the k650/700 but does any one know what the difference between EPA and non EPA is? Then also in my search i found that there was an 48mm 65cc k650 model cut off saw available, piston part # 506 07 71-01. I have ordered the 48mm 506 07 71-01 piston for my r421t and will post back if it is indeed an 2 ring dome top as the ipl indicated.
