ahhhh I see, the higher number P series pull air form the back too it appears.

Clutch covers have been popping up on e-bay quite frequent. If it is a P40, a Farmsaw cover will work. Theres one on e-bay now for 5 bucks. Once you get the saw let us know, its possible its a P50. Then a farmsaw cover will not work. You can pull the muff and measure the bore, or measure the distance between av mounts on the lower frame. The lower frame thats included is from a P51 but whos to say it fits the saw. Either way you got a good deal.

You may get lucky and find the id tag on the bottom of the saw.....

Great news, thanks for the info. I'll probably wait to get it before getting any parts. I emailed the guy and asked him to check the bottom for a tag with the model # but haven't heard anything yet.

Farmlite

I picked up a saw yesterday from a guy who had thousands of saws in piles. I needed a good p series parts saw. He dug in and pulled out a very nice one that looked like it could start right up. It is pale green and has farmlite on the top handle but has P42 on the recoil. I'm sure its a farmlite, must have been a transplanted recoil. Anyways I got it home and it fired up right away with a quick inspection and new gas. Now I think its too good to scavenge for parts but I was wondering what it should look like on the recoil side, anybody have pics? Also anybody interested in these? It may be for sale or trade. Thanks

I have a couple of them but I don`t have picts of them in my albums. I can take some picts if no one else has any to post.

Hi Jerry thanks, I will try to get some pics of this one tomorrow to put up as well. Its kind of a nice little saw.

They are a better saw than a lot of guy`s give them credit for. They may not be a PRO model or be high up on the collectors list but you know they were better made than any of todays homeowner saws are. There still is a lot of them cutting up firewood around this area and even if they are found just sitting around they can be put back in use with only a little TLC.

The one I got needs cleaned up and such, theres a bit of crud stuck in the gas tank and I'm not sure yet if its oiling or not but it seems to be a solid little saw. I guess I will put it on the list of saws to work on.

Yea, that`s what I do with a lot of the P series and the Farmsaws, once in a while I will pull one out of the pile and get it running, last one was a P28, made a real nice runner.

I have a saw chain that says SW on it, but I can't seem to find a site that can tell me wich pitch the number is. Any of you know where to find a matching table??
