I've been looking for my Dad's old Pioneer saw.
Found the brush cutter attachment a few weeks ago but the saw was nowhere to be found.
I was feeling that it had been "borrowed" by one of the local thieving dirt-bags.
I was in the workshop part of the barn yesterday and for some reason peeked behind some sheet steel leaning behind the furnace. Eureka! There it is! Wiped off the nameplate and it's a 1200.
So, can any of you can tell me of any problem areas that I should look for before trying to fire it up? I don't want to fry it as it has been sitting for about 25 - 30 years.
I'll post pics tomorrow after Easter breakfast w/ Mom.

Your biggest problem will be fuel. Hopefully the tank was dry. New fuel lines are a good start and clean the tank. More important. Is the brush cutter attachment a Pioneer attachment??? I am sure we would all like to see a couple of photos of it if it's PIONEER

Heres my 14yr old sons find at the auction today, everything is there, good compression...the cap says 16:1 mix lol

The 2200 is just a newer version of the 1100, they were 58cc saws so not a beast by any means. Heavy and slow but had lots of torque for one of the smaller Pioneer saws.

This confirms my suspicions. The weird thing is that the saw runs well, idles well etc. But I did have to make a new idle stop screw to push the throttle every so slightly further when idling to get it to run right. I think it has pretty low compression and I know there is some scoring above the single piston ring.

Yes a compression check is in order in that case, low compression makes them seem like they are powerless. I owned or ran most of the Pioneer saws and they were powerful saws for their time. Compression was high on most of them, the 1100 series saws seemed to have the highest comp and the loudest exhaust.

Can't find the carrying strap or the blades yet.
Did find the Operators Manual and the Brushking parts catalog though!
Will scan them in tonight and make available to those who want it.

Your pics didn't come up, you got the dreaded ' red x'. :censored:

Pioneer Attachments

My catalogue shows the brush cutter (2 models), air compressor, water pump and power takeoff. Real collectible items for sure.

P62 and all others

I have the same catalog as you have shown.I have contacted all the manufacturers of the accessories you see mounted on the Pioneer stand.None of the items are made anymore. That doesn't mean that you could not find a substitute or an NOS or used one in some back room or garage ,barn etc.
I would like to find the stand myself.REALLY WOULD LIKE TOO!

1074 finished

Got a couple minutes today to get the repaired air filter cover on and actually try it out in a piece of wood.

The cover looks like hell but it don't matter as it is at least functional now.

It had a piece missing from on top and the center hold down part inside was cracked. I just took some fiberglass cloth with resin and buit it up covering the whole top and most of the inside. I didnt spend any time trying to make it look pretty.

Anyway the saw seems to start good, run fine, and feels good in the hand.

From the way it ran in the wood, I think this one is best left mostly for limbing duty .

Be easy on me for the cover repair, I know it dont look very good.

Looks good to me Mark, the 1074 is not a big powerhouse but they had a lot of heart. I have seen a lot of them cut firewood in homeowners yards around here for a good many years. Most of them never seen any mercy, maintainence or got any TLC but they chugged away until they wore their bore out from long hours or sawdust ingestion and then they were uncermoniously tossed out into the garbage.

I'll tell you one thing, it sure does start easy and runs well! Like I said I had this one all apart and I have to say it is put together very solid. I'm sure they were durable for sure.

They were durable but those durn plastic airfilter covers broke early and let a lot of sawdust in the airbox, then down the carb. The rest is history.
