Well,.. at least it is all there, as in a complete saw, won`t have to go looking for parts. The bottle of brown goo came out of the fuel tank along with a few bits of old fuel line, screens and metal pickup weights.

There is just something about the style of the older Pioneer saws, sleek, sexy, streamlined, etc. If you know what I mean. :D

Nice Saw Jerry

I have always considered them a work of art, the felows that made the sand moulds that the liquid magnesium was poured into had to know their stuff. Few other saws that I have seen are made from sandcast parts and then welded together like the IEL/Pioneer saws were. The two fuel tank halves are welded together and that makes up the rear handle also.

Thanks Lawrence;
Dan has actually dug me up a lot of saws but when its a, RA, then I get a little more excited than usual, this makes #5 in the RA lineup. You may not be able to tell from the picts but this saw is actually in very good condition for its age, absolutely no pitting inside or out, been stored indoors all its life in a dry building, that is rare around here.

guess Who

Its been awhile gentlemen but you know I get scarce over the summer with music & other stuff. This year has been particularly hard, My wife & brother have been both diagnosed with cancer. (And a sister in law) My wife with stomach cancer & my brother with liver cancer. Brother has only a few weeks to live according to the Dr.'s & wife just started round 9 of chemo. Shes holding up amazingly well & she has every intention of beating this thing. That being said, wifey has been out of work pretty much for the last 7 months, (a few hours here & there when she feels up to it. Her boss has been really cool), and things are getting tighter than bark on a tree. So, I'm afraid i might be selling my favorite saws. except for the 2 i use to do most of my cutting. If you remember I have been looking for an airfilter COVER for the 1074 for quit awhile & was putting off rebuilding til I found one. Never did so saw wasn't rebuilt yet. It ran great when I put it away many years ago even with the wear showing on the piston. Thats when I bought a new piston & jug assy. And so it sits. I hate to part with it and it would only go as a whole,(saw & new jug & piston set). Also have an Echo 610EVL twin cylinder runs like a scalded dog, low hours, but missing the front white plastic safety guard. If Volks-Man is still on here he can hook you up with the guard for a reasonable price. I was getting ready to buy one from him when the s*** hit the fan. Hope you all have a good supply of firewood ready (I do not as of yet). And hope to see you on the forums here. I cant really say what I need for these saws, but will look and see what type of offers or general range they might be going in. then I'll decide.
For now keep restoring & cutting...:chainsaw:

Geeeze,..Rennie, that certainly is a long run of of bad luck, so many of your family afflicted with the big C. and now you are thinking of selling off your saws, you are certainly at a low point in your life. I for one feel for you, both my parents were taken by the big C and it certainly was not a smooth ride. Very sorry to hear this news.

Just a thank you to Dan Can for finding and dropping off a real nice RA.
Later in the afternoon I took it out to the shop and began a little lookover, it is almost complete and will make an easy project to get up and running, mostly fuel related overhaul, will post picts as project gets underway.

Your welcome Jerry .
I can't say that I have come across a lot of this older stuff in the past but I wasn't looking for it either . Now I pay more attention when I'm out and about and ask a lot more questions !
It's kind of fun for me finding them and getting them to someone that want's them .

Rennie, I'm truly sorry to hear about your family. I hope everything goes well. Thoughts and prayers for your family.

Dan,..you are the single biggest contributor to my CAD affliction, I have lost count of the number of saws you have found for me but I appreciate every one of them. The 600 series and RA`s are certainly my main interest in the collector series, the rest of them make fine runners with some work.:yourock:

Does your RA have the Pioneer cast into the top cover also? They are easier to find than the ones with the separate chromed Pioneer logo and the round medallion in the center of the cover, those items usually just fell off.

Pioneerguy600

Yes Jerry it has the Pioneer cast into the top cover. I just got another cover that is the other style with the round medallion in the center, but its missing the round medallion though. It is for the other RA that I have that was missing the top cover, but that is the saw that is locked up.

I thought that I remembered seeing the top cover on your RA back when you were just getting it up and running. That is the easier of the covers to find, not that they are easy to find either. To find one with a medallion and the Pioneer logo is like winning the Loto. Put some penetrating oil or trans fluid in that cast iron cylinder and it may free up that piston.

Pioneerguy600

Medallion? Are we talking for visual appeal? I wouldn't believe we'd be concerned with some logo thing.

Thanks Jerry, how hard is it to find the medallion for this cover I just got? I'm about 100% certain that the guy I got this locked up RA from put the hose to it. Because when I got there it was all wet, and he said he cleaned it up when he got it a couple years prior, now its locked up.
