--------Hear is HM no wear as nice as yours not even close to yours lol I got it from a Friend that gave up collecting he restored it he gave it to me for free so I cant complain about his work

is that paint on the jug gonna blister?

Can it work with 93 links? I came across a nice deal for skip jgx but its 93 links. I would immagine it should but just thought I would ask.

It might for a short time but as the chain breaks in/ streatches you will soon run out of adjuster travel and won`t be able to get the chain tensioned properly. It is very easy to have a link removed from a chain, it takes me all of 4-5 mins to break one out and reattach the ends.

Sure is a lot of nice iron being posted. Glad to see Joe is showing us a sample of his very impressive collection. He has the nicest IEL collection I have seen.Lots of other very interesting saws as well.
Keep the photos coming.

-----Thanks Jerry hear is my HA they are red I hope to make it look as good as the yellow HB if I ever get time way to many saws wating lol

That HA would look fantastic with a new coat of red paint on it and I know how time consuming it is to get them ready to paint, then apply the paint, let it cure and reassemble all the parts. It shure is worth the effort when they are completed/ preserved.

While we're into the H models, though I might as well share my HM. The fuel line, oil cap, and chain have since been replaced. Chain was stretched beyond adjustment. Underneath the fuel tank it looks like they just welded the HA sections together and eliminated the intake pivot.

If that red HA gets lonely, I'm sure it would find happiness next to my HM.

A beautiful job on the restoration of that HM, Buzz. I really like to see them with those foil serial numbers on them, most of those did not survive.

Picked up this little Pioneer saw today. looks like it was based on the P28. The saw is factory orange and has an orange plastic rewind. It has not been repainted orange. The top cover is black and appears to have the same decals they used on a Farmsaw. I was told that a run of these saws were made for sale in Sweden?
Anyone have one or info on the saw. Should be a good saw to take to a couple of shows this year.

Not sure if the saw is rare or how many were made. one thing for sure, parts would be a lot easier to find since they are the same as a P28 except for the orange parts. The P35 was a new design and all parts are completely different then other Pioneer saws

hey guys!

might be getting my first Pioneer. found a cheap one close to home and figured if nothing else I could trade it for something I need (or to someone who will love it more than I...). I don't know the model yet but know it has a 20in bar and that's about all I know... from the bend in the 1/2 wrap maybe a 2200?? I figured you all might throw a guess on model number or range of numbers... I'm new to pioneers so thought you all might have some fun with it today!

here's the ugly txt message pic I got of it...

It certainly looks like a 2200 but it's hard to say from that pic.

The 405"s arrived

Received my 405's today THANKS TO "THOMAS1",

I was like a kid in a candy shop!
2 405s, 24" Oregon bar (correct Pioneer pattern), three chains, two great one 40%, One saw runs good but is too rich all the time, the other has the "Pioneer Window Failure issue" so apart it comes after I order some gaskets, its going to get a 455 P/C anyway. Heres the funny thing, one saw has the THIRD transfers across from the exguast the other doesn't, both saws were made in Huron Park Canada, wich I though they were made in the US after Poulan started them!
Previous owner and myself are having issues with the air filter not sealing, looks like I'll be buying the $20.00 foam West Coast one.
Anyone have any luck with these WJ carbs on these? think I like the SDC

These have Fiberglass reeds, my P42 is metal anyone know whats up?

Some pictures, last has all three 4 cube Pioneers

Any make of carb works fine if the internals are in proper order and set up properly. Any saw/carb that has been sitting idle for long usually needs attention. A good cleaning, new kit and set the metering lever to proper specs and the carb will perform properly if it has not been damaged by someone that does not know the L or H needles should not be rammed in too tightly thus damaging the circuit bores.
The fiberglass reeds are a performance enhancement option over metal reeds, not shure if they came from the factory with them but they were/are still available from Boyesen Power Reeds.

You're just too dang happy!

Don't have much experience w/ WJ carbs - all my saws have SDC except the 655. Can't honestly say I've seen any real difference. The fuel/ oil partition on the 655 looked like it needed some attention, so I did some JB Weld w/o taking it apart. Won't know for a while how good my fix is. In all the others, the windows still look too good to monkey with.

Pretty much have never run stock air filters. Got three velocity stacks from a Pioneer dealer in the early '80s. I'm not K&N's biggest fan, but they have served me well. I wish I had one more velocity stack. Maybe one for me as well - at 10,000', there ain't much air in the air. Wish I had some extra stacks to send you.

Interesting that one 405 has boost ports.

You could likely make a glass reed, if you can't find one. I'll let you know if I find an extra one.

Your Western looks exactly like mine (did). Seems like mine came with a single-stage glass reed. It also had one-piece Phelon ignition. That ignition is now on the P52 that usta be a P51. Maybe my 42 was built a month or so later than yours. Have you run full-chisel chain on the P42? Makes it even faster.

Glad to get the update,

Jack
