Came across this on CL, it's not really anything I'm interested in, but if one of you guys wants it, I could help with pickup and shipping.

Seller has it listed as an FM, but I can't find that model in Acres, if I was guessing, I'd say it's an HM.

Chainsaw IEL Pioneer FM

I've bought several IEL saws listed as "FM"'s. Not all of them look the same. Sellers see the Fairbanks Morse logo and think it's the saw name.

pioneer 1100 questions

Hey all,

i came into possession of a pioneer 1100 model G colored white. i am in need of a chain for it, but it had a .404 on it when i got it and it's kinda hard to get that around where i live. i saw that the saw was originally 3/8 pitch chain. now i heard that in halifax ns there is a guy who restores pioneer saws, i would like to change my saw over to 3/8 so i can have more availability to chains. i hope i am posting in the right place on this forum since i am brand new here. if someone could help me out here, that would be awesome. maybe lead me to who the guy is that sells parts or anything?? i live in yarmouth NS. i believe i will need a 3/8 sprocket, other then that i am pretty sure i am set. also, i am cutting some softwood around here, but also a lot of hardwood where i am at, usually cutting around 6 cord a season for around home, along with other misc. tasks too. would a 3/8 skip sequence work well, or would semi do better?? i am running a 16 inch bar at the moment and usually have clean wood, no skidded stuff. the wood can range between 10 inch and 24 inch logs.
thanks,
pioneer1100guy

You are looking for Jerry, he lives up Halifax way. Goes by pioneerguy600 on here. If your saw has a rim and drum, it's just a matter of buying a 3/8 rim, if it's a spur sprocket, it's a little more complicated. Pioneer part number is 473532, somebody can probably cross that to an oregon number.

You don't need skip chain for a 16'' bar, for clean wood you want full comp, full chisel.

Is there any chance of finding an IPL for a Super Twin? I have a friend that wants to know...

Try the link on peteoldsaw's signature (Free File Sharing Made Simple - MediaFire). There are 4 folders, probably worth looking in all but mine (I know it isn't in there).
Both peteoldsaw and ModifiedMark deserve a special thank you,

Oregon still sells a rim drive "System" for them, it includes the drum and rim/ring in 3/8", the number is 27440X.

I click on Pioneer in the sprocket system on Bailey's website and I get this:

Hey pioneerguy600,
i seen on oregons website that the sprocket and rim drive set will power .325, 3/8 and .404. is it possible on mine that it has the same thing and that all i need to do is put a 3/8 chain on it??

Depends if you have a one piece spur sprocket drive or a two piece rim drive setup on that saw. They are interchangeable so you will have to look and see what you have. If it is a two piece rim drive setup then all you have to change is the rim /ring to whatever chain you would like to use. Of course you would have to change your bar as well if it has a sprocket tip. If it is a hardnosed bar then any pitch chain can be used on it as long as the gauge is the same. The gauge is the thickness of the drive link that slides in the groove of the chain bar.

Thanks for the help Lou! There's lot of good info in there. I didn't find anything for a Twin but picked up a lot of good stuff on my RA.

Help identifying a saw

Picked this up, today, for $40. Guy said it ran fine a couple years ago, but hasn't used it since, and just had no use for it...It looks like a 600 series, but there isn't anything that states a model number. Anyone know exactly what model it is?

The saw was surprisingly clean. Has great compression. Blew out the gas tank with compressed air, put some fuel in, cleaned the plug, squirted some mix in the carb, and after a couple of pulls, it started right up. Kinda sounded like a Harley idleing......
