Finally got some time to get some pictures yesterday of my Pioneer.

Took a closer look at the bar, pretty sure I'll need to replace it. Looks like it was run kinda dry for a bit, there's some wear on both the bar and the chain, and the steel is mushroomed over a bit on the bar.
Haven't taken apart the primer yet. That'll probably be a project for tonight.
Jerry, Jerry, Jerry ...... that bench grinder is way too harsh on the bar, IMHO.
A 1/4" die grinder with an abrasive disc is the real ticket, or one of these: http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw-stickies/128518-48.htm#post4047358
I picked this up today in Peterborough. Many thanks to Huck01955 for picking the saw up for me earlier this week or I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be mine now. Guys like him that will go out of their way to help a fellow AS member they've never met is what makes it great. It was bought from the original owner who purchased the saw while he was working at OMC. Original bar with Pioneer chain.

Very nice!!
Thanks Jerry. I was pleased to find that the chain brake is intact and working
That's almost identical to the one I have. Mine is an S but it doesn't say it on the filter cover, just the serial plate. Nice grab.

Very nice P41, Glad to see it go to a good home. I like the top decals with the saw model number on them. Not sure when or why they used the one with the model number. I have seen all the big cube saws both ways.
Huck01955 is a very good fellow to deal with.

Huck01955 is a wealth of knowledge. He was at work today and I'm sorry I didn’t have more time to bend his ear.
Thanks. I stopped to visit with another chainsaw fan on the way back and to have a look at his Pioneers. Neither of his P41's have the model on the cover label either. I was wondering if the model numbers were dropped from the labels at some point to reduce inventory and save a few bucks.
We also noticed that most of his larger P series had green paint (remnants) on the front handlebars while my P51 and this P41 do not.

Just going through my P41S and the reed block is cracked. I sealed it up with a soldering iron but would like to get a new one if possible.
Does anyone know if a block from a P42 would fit if I can't find one for the P41?
Thanks

I do know that one from a Farmsaw or a P38 would fit, not sure about one from a P42, they have diff part numbers.

I think it might fit if you change the reeds too, they have different styles. One is a 'vertical' reed setup, and the 42 is a 'horizontal' reed, if that makes any sense.:msp_wink:
