If you read earlier posts you'll surely find mention of baking your Prestolite coil.Well it's not all rainbows and butterflies with my recently acquired P41, p42? I've got no spark. Did all the usuals to see if it was something simple, but no dice. Considering baking the coil. Someone mentioned the Prestolite coil that's on it wasn't original. What are my options?

Please don't falsely accuse your mate....
I spent the first 20 years of my life in Maumee (Toledo suburb), Ohio... Are you anywhere close to that?Especially over saw stuff!
Your welcome, and glad I could help.I believe they still have the p62 top end available at Rotmansales. Thanks for taking the time to dig that up. Will check my serial # and see what's on mine a little later. Pretty sure it will be the earlier cylinder.
I was compelled to pull a couple of Pioneers off of the shelf today having looked at the previous pages. I tired of swinging a maul the past couple of weeks, picking away at last year's rounds. Ran a Farmsaw and the P41 to noodle a few of the last ones down to size. Both ran well. The P41 buffers are much stiffer than the Farmsaws I have. Resonates through the hands at a couple of frequencies. Nonetheless, a pleasure to run. I had a new loop of LGX on the P41. They both pulled like champs. Pulled down the 655 to give her a go. The plate sealing the window between the two tanks has begun to leak. Another project.
Took a short clip of the P41 while warming things up.

Here is a pic of a p42 and p41 cylinder. The p42 is on top. Some had a decomp, and some did not. I would still say its a p42.So in the quest to figure out which p40 41 42 western my saw is I’m still stumped. My buddy who has the shop manuals on these says only the p40 has the horizontal coil mount. Well my western has that, and so does my p40. My p40 has many difference to this western saw the head being one of them. Also the flywheel on my p40 is much different than the western. What do you guys think?
Also on my p40 it looks like the coil has been swapped out. Still oem coil?
