Pioneer chainsaws

I would definitely recommend using heat on the pioneer flywheels. They seem to always be stuck on there really tight. I use a small plumbers torch on propane or MAPP and get it good and hot while there is tension on the puller, then give the puller a few whacks with a big hammer. Its that or alternate heat and penetrating oil for a few nights.

There are a few pioneer collectors in the GVRD if you need help.

They are tight. I even tried heating one on a p60 and still broke the flywheel

Thanks to everyone who contributed assistance. The barb did screw out of the tank to replace the fuel line (new weighted filter installed as well) as someone suggested. Only damage I did to the saw pulling it apart is the threads on the nut which holds the flywheel on. Glancing blow with the hammer. Got her ripped apart and cleaned up. Once I locate another nut I can give her a test pull and see her roar again. If time permits I may do a cosmetic paint strip and give her a new coat of yellow and green this summer.

I don't know what all the numbers mean. I have an old Windsor 26" that says

I figure it is (was) a 26" Husky mount, .050 ga., 3/8". It doesn't say 87 anywhere, but the chain I cut down to fit it is 87 DL. It's going on my P45 when I get it back together. I should have checked when I was out back - it seems like my Cannon 30" takes 96 or 98 DL.

hi new to the site and to chainsaw collecting I picked up 2 pioneer 620 saws about 2 weeks ago one normal 620 and a super 620 looking at getting them running and restoring them to a useable state I'll get some pictures later

Not sure how you grounded out the coil. Best way is the pull the switch wire off the coil and use another wire to ground it from coil to the cylinder. That way you eliminate the switch and the wire.

I do have a coil on a MAC that won't ground at the coil either, The must be a break in continuity inside the coil on mine.

I took the cover off pulled the wire from the switch and touched it to the cylinder. there's about 40 years of saw dust pack in this thing so that is most likely not helping

It could be a break in the wire. You could check that with an OHM meter.
