Cj, you could use this paint for those older saws but I'm not sure if the colour will match them. I matched this up to a NOS P-series part I had. It might be too green for those older ones.

The paint is super durable and impermeable to gas, oil and most solvents. It's recommended for industrial fleet applications. You can recoat it with itself at any time in case you get a scratch or make a mistake.

The best part is that one quart will likely paint about 12 saws!

I got my first pioneer saw. Yea it's only a P-12, but it's a pioneer. Got it for about $10 & after L/H carb turning got it running pretty descent. I haven't dropped it into any wood yet.
I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Here's it is, haven't cleaned it yet. The bolt for the air filter cover broke, so I used some zip ties to hold it down for now.
Does anybody make any chains for them? From acresinternet.com, it has a 1/4 pitch chain. It also says to run 20:1, well it be ok to run 50:1?
I checked the compression on it, 130 psi.

The P12 will look real nice after you get it cleaned up a little.A bonus with your P12 is that the green plastic seems to be in good shape,which is unusual with the small P series.The plastic seems the first thing to go on them and it is hard to find ones in good shape.As far as gas and oil mix I will let the Gurus answer that one Steven.

Hell of a nice find on the P62 Lee!There must be more of those on the east coast of North America than on the west because I certainly don't see any around here.Maybe guy's are just sitting on them.Then again Brendon may be hiding them LOL !

Nope, Not an east coast find at all.
It traveled around 3000 miles to get
here. I followed up on an email and here

Very nice P62HP, Lee. Looks like it just needs to be reunited with a chain brake mechanism and a Pioneer pull handle to be all original again. Although I have that model, I'm still envious I like the round sticker on top of the air filter... I wonder if those are available anywhere. Probably not.

It's good to see someone else collecting the big Pioneers. It's an expensive hobby.

I did run it, And i might add that i have
taken a liking to these old big Pioneers and
the Poulan 655.
It doe's cut like a bear but i didn't cut right
next to a Dolmar 143. I would say the 143
has more rpm but the P62 has more grunt.
The decals on the air filters should be able to
be made .

The air filter is all factory correct.
I believe the Hi Performance models
came with this set up.

Well lets see, How many do i have:monkey:

3 Poulan 655BP
2 Pioneer P61
1 Pioneer P62 HP

One of the 655's needs to be rebuilt.
and another needs a tuneup, Fuel line or carb kit.
One P61 needs top end.

Got the new main bearings for the 3270 today and fitted the non floater to the crank,showed my girls(6 and 7) all about thermal expansion and compression(hot bearing and cold crank)mmmm,rather be watching that hanna montanna thing I think,thought my boy mite care,but being a black lab...hes was more interested in having a feast on the cats left overs....

I got a box of Pioneer .400 (.058) chain. 25' of it. It is original Pioneer chain (came in the Pioneer box) and I am curious as to which Pioneer saws generally ran with this chain? I thought it was all .404 so was kind of surprised to see the .400 on the box.

Also, I picked up a Super 620 today. Did it come with the green top cover?
