Speaking of the "buried" Pioneers, Jerry...what became of the one you posted the pic of that looked like it was buried at the bottom of a river?

It is in the works so to say, it has been dismantled, blasted, and some power grinding/sanding done and its getting close to primer. It will get an almost new oversize piston and rings, the cylinder is rebored and all the threads have been retapped/run ,all new bolts and machine screws picked out for it, had a bunch of stuff on hand from a few previous rebuilds. It will be back together by winter most likely. It`s a sentimental rebuild for a customer, he does not care if it runs like new as he will not use it as a cutting saw but it will run and behave like a chainsaw from that era did before I get it back to him. Thanks for asking, I am documenting the rebuild.

BSmitty, welcome to the site! Great story about your saw, it's nice when there's a personal connection.
Jerry, I'm really looking forward to the documented restoration. I've been wondering how it's going or if there was even a ghost of chance with that one. Knowing your work, it'll be nothing short of perfect.

Congrats on your find!! Lawrence hit the nail on the head when he mentioned "no attitudes" on this thread. Im pretty new to Pioneer saws and this thread, my story is similar to yours, my uncle owned the saws first, when he passed away we found them on a dirt floor in an old barn covered in 25 years of dust and junk. Ive just about got all the parts together to bring these two saws back to life. All of this was made possible with the help and knowledge from the guys on this thread. It seems everybody wants to help you out the best they can. I seen a lot of smart as@es as I was reading some of the other threads, but NOT here. We would love to see some pics.

Yep i agree with the above posts. A group of guys talking about ther hobby and sharing there knowledge , Ive just picked up a 1200A as my 1st resto project , Does anybody have any info on these saws? Thanks Dave

Still searching for a Farmsaw Yoke Clip if anyone has an old farmsaw that isn't repairable and is willing to sell it to me. Still attempting to get this saw back up and working.

Yoke clip

You can use one from the smaller series saws. Check out this service bulletin:

Propliner,

I greatly appreciate the offer I'd happily pay for the clip if you have one. The repair is for a friend and he has been without a saw for a while so he's be using mine (Stihl 036) when we're out cutting.

Just PM me and let me know how to proceed.

Jerry , Have a Safe and fun trip! My friend just got back from there, he said he didn't want to leave there.

western spikes

Does anybody have a set of western spikes to fit a P50? Im not sure if they made a P50 western, but I would like a set of the western spikes. I believe spikes from a P51 will work.

Alaska vacation!

Have a great trip Jerry (and Judy!) I went up there about 10 years ago and almost stayed! Still think about moving up there when things get tough here. It's like somebody once said, "There are two kinds of people in Alaska - those born (t)here and those running away from something." The Salmon run is unbelievable but I still couldn't catch any. But I ate quite a bit of Salmon that was great! Smoked, grilled, whatever. Did some gold panning and wow that water is COLD! Took about 300 photos - what a place! I feel sure you will love it.

Again - have a great trip! We will find our way without you for a while. Might be a case of the blind leading the blind? :dizzy:
