any chance of a photo of the work?

Ed here are a couple of pics of the work I did. This one shows the exhaust port enlarged. As you can see, there is plenty of room to remove more material but I thought I'd play it safe for the first one. I don't have a "before" picture to compare this to but I'd estimate I enlarged it about 6 or 7%.

Here is a picture of one of the transfer ports at the bottom. You can see that it would be difficult to remove material all the way up to the exit.

Here is the intake transfer port where it comes out into the cylinder. I ground out the web in the middle because it was missing chrome from it, so I decided to try and grind all away. I need a different bit to finish the job properly.

It takes a steady hand to do this stuff. Be careful not to slip and damage the lining. I think I might try this jug on a 655 some day. I'll try to find a reed cage from an SP125 or enlarge a Pioneer one and use two stage reeds. I'll also use a K&N filter and do a muffler mod. Who knows? It might work.
Brendon.

Brendon, Nice looking job. I don't know if I will attempt that or not. I do have a spare cylinder for the P50, maybe I will try it in the future. For now I will grind and polish the castings and clean it up some. I will try to post pics of my newly purchased P61 in the next couple days. Talk about compression,WOW! Thank God for compression releases, I don't think I could start it without one.

Oh yeah, there's some serious compression on the 98 cc'ers. Make sure you always pull it over with a firm grip and lots of authority... otherwise it might win the battle against your fingers. I found out the hard way.

I think the Acres site may have changed servers and therefore the address has been changed. There was a new thread started recently about it.

I was wrong about the server change. There is a technical glitch with the Mike Acres site and they hope to have it back up on Tuesday.

Hi What about raising or lowering the port? I think it was done to make them accelerate faster? as the piston didnt have to travel so far for the charge of fuel to enter  ?

My lovely wife got me 2 saws for $2...A homey EZ and a P25. The P25 looks pretty rough but maybe I can do a full rebuild. This looks pretty much exactly like my 1073 with the 1074 chain tensioner on it. Well I guess the plastic cover on top is green instead of brown...Are they the same saw, different label?

Nice find! Great price! That P25 would be the perfect restore saw. Before and after pics would be a must.

The "new" P25 still turns over. I only pulled the cord about 12 inches but it does rotate. The way the cord was hanging out I thought it might be seized up. Anyway I assume I need a bunch of gaskets, bearings, seals, rings blah blah blah...Does anyone have a good source for this assortment of parts? I suppose I need an IPL if someone has one.

Even got it to run , Gave it a wash with car wash and wax , and splashed some mix in the carb and lo and behold on the 300th pull it started

Looks good from what can be seen in that one pict. At least it has the top cover, that`s one of the hardest parts to find if missing. Does it have the round IEL emblem and chrome Pioneer logo on the top cover./

Brian, I sent an IPL to your e-mail address. You can try Mike Acres site once its back running again. He is the contact for Pioneer parts, I think he should have what you need. Good Luck
