My ancestors on both sides came from Poland and those guys even scare me. I'll have bad dreams tonight. Like I can see some big first aid kits being needed in a few of the locations.

Clarence wins.

I didn't have the sound on - did they explain what the main tie rod/flywheel was a part of originally? Kind of looked like a steam engine piston...

Either way, I wasn't so worried about him as much as seeing the litle kid playing around by those long belts & idlers. I can just imagine a little kid getting an arm ripped off. UGH!

One Armed Alaskan?

Kind of makes You wonder how he lost the one arm and why is he doing something so screwed up:jawdrop: Some people never learn, they just get killed:monkey:

he didn't loose it... it was in a sling... he waves from inside his coveralls in the beginning....

OH and ANYTHING done by the S&S guys from the last season of AxMen can be posted here...:spam:

My Bad!!

I looked again ,and yes it is in a sling, just makes You wonder what happened still? It might really screw You up though!!

Decades ago you used to be able to buy one of those screw cone thingies and it bolted to a hub on a car or truck. You jacked the car up and took the wheel off and put that thing on and split with the end of the log against the ground. Problem was it would kick the vehicle off the stands sometimes and that was bad.

I just have to ask WHY would any of those people use contraptions like that when there are so many affordable, exponentially safer alternatives ???? :dizzy::dizzy:

Seriously..... how much is a used hydraulic splitter? What are your arms, or even fingers worth?
I'll have to check with aflak

I seen one a while back for sale, It was a new one. Don't remember anything about it though.

Clarence, the guy with the old baler splitter died of natural causes a few years ago according to his son who posted on the utube video. Said he built it for something to do.
With that type of baler the plunger actually can only go so far so even though it looks like his hand is going to get cut off the plunger doesn't go that far. Course he did put his hand infront of the plunger travel point when he was holding the pieces up to split.
I have one of the screw type splitters made by Unicorn and am going to try it out for the first time tomorrow so if I don't post back you will know what happened. I've had it for a year and it's time to try it out.

thats a shame about Clarence .. he obviously had some tinkering talent... that seems to be lost on the new generation....while his contraption looks and is dangerous ... it goes to show the ingenuity that one can make out of 'junk' laying around....
with that said... it would still take a big 'set' to run that thing... :jawdrop:

This is from the 'Hold my beer and watch this' productions!

Thanks Jkebxjunke!

ROFL...yeah...

now is anyone else got pics or vids to post ? pity there weren't vid cameras around when those stickler ones were in use on the back wheel of a car/truck when the log knocked it off the jack... ....:jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:
