decent little saws parts are dirt cheap and the saws respond well to a muffler mod. make sure it has anti vibe on it otherwise your hands will suffer.
much better saw than the ms 170 stihl and they oil like crazy.

I just purchased a 330 from the trading post last week and had an opportunity to run it yesterday and this afternoon. Really nice little saw, the 22" stock bar is a little over kill, once worn out I plan on replacing it with a 18"-20". Can't wait till it's broken in and muffler modded.

good luck finding a 18'' the K041 bars are hard to find go ahead and find a 16 and have some fun with it and mod that muffler

The one I saw was in mint shape with a plastic case, with what looked to be a 16" bar. Not sure what I would need with it, as I already have a 242XP, but I'm pretty sure I could snag it for $50.

I'd jump on it at that price, there are some clear differences between a husky xp and the poulan pro as far as quality goes but overall I am very impressed, I think it will make a great part timers saw. Sure hard to beat for the price.

I have K041 16" 3/8 for mine. There was a guy selling them on Chainsaw Repair site and feebay 16"-22". I think most of the stock is gone but 20". You might check with him.

Also just take a K095 mount bar for small husky and convert the bar tensioner hole to be used as oiler and tenisioner for the poulans. 30mins tops.

i already got plenty of bars to fit mine i got two 16'' and three 18'' along with the 22'' oem deal the guy i bought the saw from said this saw came from ebay 1-2 yrs ago as NOS
and he said it was to much saw for him in his old age the saw was only used to fell and buck 1 dead ash tree.

if you can get it for 50$ go for it, people here try to get 150,175$ for those on craigslist.

Not trying to derail the thread, but how would a Poulan Pro 262 compare? I know its a little smaller at 42cc, but is it as well regarded as the 330? I saw one in the local shops today, and the price was pretty cheap. I noticed it has a primer bubble, and didn't look very old....

The 262 is a plastic saw not a pro mag cased saw like the 330.

remove the two bolts on the muffler and they seperate it should have a spark screen inside along with a tube with holes in it. enlarge the photo if you have to.

You need a spacer of some kind in there. Tightening the bolts against just the front cover will bend or crack the cover. I usually take a 1/8 pipe nipple and cut to the same length as the insert for each bolt and slide them on the bolts instead of the baffle assembly.

everything looked fine but the i did gut the muffler and put a 18'' on it and i tuned it for 32:1.

I don't care if it looked fine or not, do yourself a favor and replace the impulse line now. A cracked impulse hose can wreck a saw in just a few minutes if not paying attention to it.

The tubing used didn't hold up that long and for less then a buck for a good rubber line its the right thing to do.

I can change one in just a few minutes if you have a medium size curved hemostat.

No need to look that hard for a K041 mount bar. You can use a small Husky Ko95 mount bar by filing the adjuster holes straight up till you break through into the bar groove for it to oil like a K041 mount. There are much better bars available in the small Husky mount then the K041 mount.

I actually ended up modding it last night, I ended up keeping the spacer and drilled it full of holes as well as drilling a pile of holes in the tune, I also drille and other ole from the outside going into and under the deflector, ill time it tomorrow

didn't know i could mod a bar to fit it, i got a 20'' from a pp5020av that will work.

i don't have any hemostat so im going to do it the old fashioned way because a trip to the hardware store is 40 miles.
