As usual great job, Mark. Interesting how many new parts you found were still available. Do you have a press for the bearings or did you use the "old'" socket and hammer press.

Great rebuild, how many cc?

And just out of curiosity, in post #4 the black gear, do you think that was a factory weld or a repair?

P744

Nice piece of history there Mark!

You can see some of the P361 & 306/245 designs mixed in as well.:msp_biggrin:

Interesting how the oiler/pump is located inside the gear reducer case, but the bar oil is delivered to it
from the oil tank bolted behind it. The oil pump sure looks like the 306/245 series pump.

It is the exact same pump.

Here is the other photo I wanted to show last night.

Looking at the area where the tank/handle assy bolt together, look closely at the green foam seal between the two. The originals were a black/grey foam and are NLA so I make them out of the B&S air filters.

If that foam seal is not in place there is a open gap for dust, dirt, chips etc to all enter the carb box area and it will all find its way down the carb venturi.

My point is any Poulan of this style, the 200 series and later 306/245 saws have that seal used in them. We have to realize that there now over 40 years old those foam seals have probably turned to dust sometime ago and need replaced.

This photo also shows how that manual oiler rod works the bell crank that activates the manual oiler in the gear box...
