Recommended good used compact tractor?

Didn't really know which forum to post this in, but here goes. What might you guys recommend for a good used tractor? I'm looking for something fairly simple I think. All I need is a means for plowing/tilling an acre garden and some light brush hog work. I was thinking a Ford 8N or something of that nature? Any recommendations or suggestions on reliable brands, models, etc. would be much appreciated. Oh yeah, did I mention I can't afford much. Appreciate the help!

older john deer no smaller than the old 950's i used one when learing a lot for a friend as a skidder and it kept on pulling threw anything

I agree the 950's jd's. Can still find parts, great engines (those yanmar diesels are very fuel efficient and can really run 3-5k hours before they give you any problems.\
