My lil' Husky arrived yesterday. I really wasn't expecting the free shipping to be FEDEX! :msp_thumbup: My saw is dated 2011 and looks brand new with no scratches, dings, dents or signs of wear at all, The chain also looks new. I don't know if this is the norm for all the saws VMI is selling but I got a heck of a deal on this 435!

It runs great too and the light weight is really going to be welcome in it's intended use on saplings, brush and taking the limbs off larger downed trees. This little rascal is just downright fun to use. :msp_w00t:

Talk about timing! Mine just came, along with bailey's clearanced 0.325 NK bar & chain. Can't wait to open them.

I have a confession to make--I got two 435s :smile2: At $139.99 each, I figure I'll either actually want two (one for carving & one for limbing) or else I have birthday present for a brother or cousin. Two of those together are less than most 450's I'm seeing.

I think my 235e's about to be reassigned as a bark-stripper.

Not correct, but it's still light.

The 339xp is ~5% lighter, at 4-kg...also more powerful. But much more expensive--close in price to a 346xp. I do think the 435 is probably the best bang for the buck of husky saws.

Made in Sweden, 2011

Got my 435R yesterday, except for some minor cosmetic nicks looks great. The air filter seems new, as is the B&C. Chain made in Canada. The saw was made in Sweden in 2008 according to the serial number. Which begs the question, where has this guy been for the last 4-years?

What mfg dates have others seen?

Mine (the one I opened and am fixing to use) has a 2011 serial number & says "Huskvarna, SWEDEN". Does that mean it's made in Sweden?

It looks very lightly used--either once or VERY carefully. The air filter looks new, but not the B/C.

I was just responding to incorrect absolute. I think $140 for that saw is good deal for a little HO limber.

I think that's what I'll call it. It will go well with the 235's new name--the Little Stripper:hmm3grin2orange:

The 435 responds real nice to a muffler mod. Only draw back is that the little clutch just can't transmit the additional power. As you get up towards 10" wood, it becomes very easy to stall the chain. No problem for most guys here, as in most cases another saw, (or several saws), are close by. :smile2:

What specifically? As long as it doesn't involve removing the spark screen, I'm interested.

I stuck a 1/2 dia tube in mine in addition to the stock exit. Picked up noticeable power & worked even better as a small wood saw. Ran into an issue where I couldn't get all that additional power to the chain on the larger stuff, it was sort of a dichotomy you could feel the power was definitely there, but when I would use the bucking spikes... it would start ripping & throwing chips, you would get all happy...right until it stalled the chain.

Think what I came away with is the mod made it easier to want to chase the larger stuff because of the power increase. It certainly made it a better limbing saw! Just don't tread where the 55cc plus saw will go.

What chain is being used? My 142 with an opened up 141 muffler has a lot of snot, but I'm running 0.043" MicroLite chain which takes quite a lot of force off the clutch. I don't really think it would be a problem as the 142 uses the same clutch as my 42cc Craftsman and 46cc 2775, but it might be an option if the clutch is a limitation on the 435.

Wouldn't it be easier to install a better/stronger/beefier clutch?

Weimedog and I talked yesterday and are looking for an option here. The 346/445 clutch has a larger ID, so it is a no go.

Of course, now that I think about this, even if the bigger clutch fit on the crankshaft, the side cover would no longer fit.

I'm not sure why Husky went with .325 NK chain on the 435. IMO, 3/8 LP chain would be a better fit on the 435. Too small of a clutch is a common problem in small displacement saws.

More power in larger wood is why I went with the 445. My Husky 445 cuts faster and better than the 55cc Craftsman that it replaced. Both saws came with .325 NK.

I believe the 435 and the 445 have the same style muffler.I did a mod on my 445. Performance pick up noticeably, Ken
Indeed they are the same style, perhaps identical size?

These pics are from my 435R.

Appears you cut off the top of the screen holder? Did the screen disappear too?

I need a mod that has a spark screen, very dry where I cut, like this:

Mine says 2011 Sweden. Mine came with a Husky H30 chain. Although I guess it was from a reel or something because there were 2 sequential cutters on the same side.

Mine also had a nick or two in the paint...very minor.

I bought mine new, but had the same setup on the chain - 2 sequential right-hand cutters, with a left on either end... prolly the length needed to fit the 16" bar that defines what cutters go where.

@ Ken... Was the mod on your muffler just drilling the extra holes out the front and opening up the outlet lid ? How did it work out, any appreciable difference in performance ?

I know this is an old thread but does anybody have pics of MM 435/440/445's? I saw a few but would like to see more details. I need to keep my spark screen.
