I did some work on a super 754 today, the cup for the starter was worn and not contacting the start (blades/tangs)? So I dimpled the inside of the cup with a hammer and small chisel, amd got it to fire on prime.

Just wrapping this up today for a guy. New piston and seals. Used a Proline piston kit from Sawzilla that was surprisingly nice for $30. Fun project.

Have just inherited a Remington Mighty Mite Bantam chainsaw. engine runs well but having trouble with oil feeder. any one with knowledge of these dinosaur . I access the automatic oil pump connected to the throttle but not sure if there's a missing check valve

I bought this little gem yesterday.No bar or chain,but that's not a big deal.Looks to be a manual oiler only,which is what I prefer.

I checked the 700 - 900 series and the 100 series and they aren't close.

I appreciate you checking. I actually found one on ebay for a SL-4 which should fit. There isn't even one listed in the IPL I have for the PL-4.

Newbie to the chainsaw restoration world here. After getting the chain for my mall 6 freed up, the pin that completes the loop fell out of the chain. What’s the proper way to get this pin to hold in place? It appears to be worn where the side plates ride.

What about grinding off the next pin & removing the link,then get a 9/16 preset & put it back together.

I just checked a loop of that chain I have and the pin is supposed to be peened on both sides, I'm guessing yours wasn't peened enough and the rust/chafing caused it to come free. Just re-peen it and you should be good to go.

I was almost afraid to post that link to evilbay because of the outrageous price,but sometimes we don't have a choice.

I will try peening this one. It looks like it was never done so it should be usable yet.

I've been working on an older SL9 from the '60's.It didn't have any spark,so I pulled the flywheel,pulled the points out & cleaned them up & put a new condenser in.I went to put the flywheel back on & noticed the Woodruff key was missing,probably that's why it didn't have spark in the first place.I was going to have my son take me to the local hardware store to try to fit a key,but last night I did a little thinking.I went out to my back shed & pulled out a Homelite Super EZ & pulled the key out of it & put it in the SL9.It fits perfectly.I put the FW back on & had my son pull it over for me (I had hand surgery yesterday) & it has great spark.I still need a fuel cap & a clutch cover for it.I also need either an oil pump plunger,or just the button for it.I'm going to try a Homelite button & see if that'll work.
Just for the heck of it I looked on evilbay for a Woodruff key for the SL9.There's one on there but the greedy slob wants $6.69 + $3.00 for shipping for a Woodruff key!

I'll pass this along in case someone ever runs into the same situation - the button from a Homelite SXL or XL-12 will fit the oil plunger on a SL9.I tried to use the entire plunger,but it's too long.

Don't peen, it is intended to work just as your is. Once you install it on the bar and tighten the chain, the grooves in the pin will not allow it to come out. Many of the older saws had chains that were joined in that fashion.
