I have no idea I didn't even look or know. I just seen the points were really corroded and I cleaned them up with a tiny file and some real fine emery cloth. I also replaced the condensor. The points box cover said .020. Someone already stripped the screw holding the points out so I could not advance the timing or move anything.

Supposedly there's a line on the case to set the points to, I used a feeler gauge.
Just remember that the points gap somewhat determines the timing of the saw. So to much advance might give you higher rpms but with be funky at idle at the rope will try ro bite you. Too much retard and it'll feel lazy but pull hard and slow.

You can find them for half that if you shop around. They're all pretty much the same. Definitely go with a two terminal version so polarity can be easily reversed if necessary and so you don't need to hard mount it somewhere to establish a ground. That gives you the flexibility to mount it anywhere using RTV and long enough wires.

You sure do a thorough job on those. Mine was absolutely filthy when I got it. First thing I did was pressure wash it. LOL Learned about Remington paint jobs real fast. Has a little left, but pretty much looks like your clutch cover everywhere else. Great compression and pops. A project for another day.

The jb weld has held, but not sure how long it will last though. The 90 out of tank is pointing towards carb and needs to point strait up atleast. Could not budge the fitting even with a cheater pipe. I quit before I broke anything else. The hose has a lot of tension on it because of the orientation of the fitting and thinking that's why it broke the 1st time20220305_114337.jpg20220305_121231.jpg20220304_134005.jpg

Hey guys, quick question, does anyone know if a large frame remington is a positive or negative ground saw? I managed to fix the oiler line on a parts saw (super 660) thats missing the points box cover plate and the points, I ordered a chip for it today to get some spark going. If I get spark then I will proceed in rebuilding the carter ND carb. The super 660 is a real early model based on the front handle style and carb model. Thanks!

@northwest saws i have seen 25$ to about 200$ I paid 175$ for a nice one locally, 165$ total for one shipped from Washington state and 90$ for one on ebay. All 3 needed carb kits (30$) a few I missed on ebay went for around 175$ there's one on ebay for 350$ right now :dizzy: I'm interested in your 754 if you going to sell it.Screenshot_20220302-184819_Chrome.jpg20220304_160456.jpg20220213_132213.jpg
