I don't see anything called out in the IPL.

Take a look at the 90 deg. outlet fitting at the oil tank. I think it is also a ball check similar to what Homelite uses.

I have a couple extra handles in my Remy junk. I'll dig them out and look it over.

Yup, after cleaning one up, I can see the ball and spring. Takes a bit of lung pressure to un-seat the ball.

Bet yours is gummed up.

Mighty Mite electric start.

From my Clymer book:

Having the electric start/recoil cover is half the battle. Look for a Mighty Mite Auto, Bantam or Deluxe model. The 34cc size.

Super 754

Picked up this today after winning it on thursday. Have not did anything with it yet. It is too cold out there to let alone think

Everything is there to it. Has good compression. 21" bar and chain. Will take it out and see if she runs in a few days. I just hope I don't have to mess with making a special wrench for the plug. Hopefully the points are clean and it will pop spark. Chain is pretty rusted. So that will have to come off and be soaked. Did not think it was a bad deal at all for $25.

Not a bad deal at all. Start your search now for a clutch cover.

ahh its just got a chip out of it. not gonna hurt nothing. If I ever do decide to fully restore it i will look for one though.[/QUOTE]

The location of the chip will likely cause a draft vortex that will pile your clutch full of sawdust when you use the saw...but duct tape fixes everything; at least that's what Red Green said.LOL:msp_wink:

Right it does! I have fixed a lot of things on saws and lots of other things in the past with duck tape, JB weld, and zip straps.

I have clutch cover off of a 770 in fine shape. But, the only way to pry it out of my hands is to trade it for one for a Super 75A or, better yet, a correct one for my Pro 88.

A flat 13/16" wrench and the correct spark plug is all you need. Check flea markets.

You need a Champ. J6J or eq.. The above wrench is just shy of 3/16" thick.

NGK B6S is closest equivalent to J6J I've found. Performs great.

Thanks for the tips. I actually just got the new Craftsman Max Access wrench set and it works perfect for taking the plug out on this. You have to slide the socket out just a little bit to get it to work but it works very nicely.

But anyways I toke her outside and put in some fresh mix. Nothing. Then sprayed in some WD40 and it fired on that and sounded like it started on the gas for a few seconds then died. So I checked the jets and they were at a acceptable setting. Took it in and tore the carb off, cleaned it and put it back together. Still does the same thing. I am gonna buy a new kit for it. the gaskets seemed a little hard. And what is up with getting that carb off/on? Only way I could get those nuts on and of is with needle nose pliers. Could not get a wrench in there. Nut was a 7/16. Tried that and a 12 and no luck. Also put in a new gas line while I was at it. Otherwise it looks like a very nice saw. gets good compression and spark.

7/16" box end ignition wrench ground very thin.

While you have the carb. off, shorten the studs to no more than long enuff to match the nut thickness.

they are actually a little shorter than the nut thickness. The farther I get into this the farther I see all the previous down home mechanic work done on this....:hmm3grin2orange:

Would you repaint this saw if you where gonna restore it, or leave it original paint?

attachment.php

Is this the saw you have been working on?
If I was just going to get it to run again, I would leave it original.
If I restore the inside of a saw then I restore the outside.
Yours still looks pretty good. A lot of the ones I do have most of the
original paint already gone.
You can make that old paint look better and preserve it too.
Carefully clean it up, then lightly clear coat it.
It will brighten up the dull paint but still look old and used.

I just cleaned this Mall 11 up and lightly clear coated it, even where there was no paint
to keep it from corroding. The red was dull and faded.
