D.G. I run a 12 wish I had a 13 or 14. I know my saw can pull more than the 12 I am running. Sure wish I could get my chain going supersonic as maggiesboy does though.

the name is ******

Ya Bob, you got me! I reran numbers and got what you did, I guess my fat fingers shouldn't use a calculator with small buttons. Bill Jr

"I reran numbers and got what you did"

Well of course you did now that he's shown you how to do it. Why not have him show you how to build a hotsaw as well.

how to build a hotsaw?

Doug- the funny thing is that I'm building our new hotsaw, I'm not paying anyone to build it for me. With that being said, I don't have quite the budget that Robert did for the Predator. Our saw won't look like his saw, I do hope it runs like his. Yes, as of this moment the Predator is the top of the line saw as far as design and speed. Let us not forget that it is my fathers saw that has beat the predator once or twice. We are all human, and mistakes do happen. My father and I know that the predator and the binford saws are our biggest competition, That is why we do 3-4 times the amount of shows that anyone else does with an Unlimited Hotsaw. We do all of those shows to entertain the crowd, and make us better competitors. Bill Jr

Another great math job maggiesboy. Lets see... you do 3 to 4 times more shows in a year than anyone else, OK... I did around 30 shows this year. My question is how can I run at your level and expect to get any respect when my V8 gets beat by a V6.

Your new saw should be a good one when you get it done. It is however important to get as many races won as possible while your still in the building stage. If you hold off a year before you finish off the saw (quick math here) ummm... that should be about 120 wins next season.

More quick math, if you can attain a higher chain speed than 1704 mph you may be able to go back in time and relive your last 5 seasons of racing.

I cant wait to hear the ballistic crack of your chain this upcomming season.

I've been staying out of this one because I generally don't like to give away my secrets for free.  I will say one thing, however, and that is that in my experience, anything over 700 mph chain speed is a waste of time.  There is a prolonged critical speed range starting about 714 and lasting 'til 777 where the shock wave upsets the cutter (speeds vary depending on altitude and barometric conditions, and we refer to it as "the Rorer range").  And once clean attitude is regained up into the 800's the cutters just get burnished on the boundary layer created by the trailing shock waves of the previous teeth, even with triple-ought skip (and we all know how slow that stuff cuts).  It's therefore best to keep it down into the 600's and if you guys were really as good at this as you hold yourselves out to be you'd know that.

30 shows a year, huh?  Sounds more like a busy weekend to me.  Maybe you've heard of my Pratt and Whitney saw I call "the Ingester".

Hey Dennis C.
I talked to a friend of mine yesterday who says he found some 1/2" chisel chain a while ago, but the guy who has it wants $800 for 100 ft. Is that guy smokin` crack or is he in the right ballpark?

BTW, no big roller noses here.

Russ

Rotex, Its 1/2" chipper full skip echo chain, are you still interested. And I started this thread so get in line. But I did get 50' of 3/4 carlton the other day.

#1 Around here we take care of our own...Thanks Russ

#2 D.C. none of your saws will pull 3/4 pitch chain and carlton 3/4 aint where it's at anyway.

#3 Just an idea here D.C. but why don't you build a double-ender with a CR500 on each end? Then you could use 3/4 pitch !!!

Happy Bird Day to you just the same.

Hi Robert dont worry about Dennis running off with the 1/2" chisel, his dreams at night are predominated by cutting implements. Dennis is much more receptive to some picco micro.

hello dennis
i know the tip you are looking for nut have not seen any for sometime up here in the great white north
1/2 in chain is near un heard of here and if they do have it
you are going to pay big time
i know you cut big wood and 1/2 in should be better but have you seen the new .404 with the higher tooth
i am changing 2 rotaxs as we speak
tested them and found the .404 was faster in 18 in. popular
which is the type of wood we cut out here the most
one saw is running a 18 tooth .404 the other is running 17 tooth
one saw has a higher pipe on it

Hey Rotex,
I suppose when somebody finds some roller noses you'll butt right in on those too! Thats ok I'm going to 3/8"s anyway. I got my 500 running so smooth now, I feel a new record coming this year at Morton. Boy!, and that new free loop I was going to send you, of 3/4" "Chisel" chain, Carlton came out with, is going to Jeff or V6 Bill now! Good luck now! Dennis

EHP, No I haven't tryed it yet! What kind is it?, Oregon? In smaller wood 3/8s" cuts fast too. But nobody wants to try it. Villinue from back east ran it years ago on his Yamaha that Rolin bought and it was real fast. I'm going to run it on my new Honda stroker 310. Dennis
