ed,
As soon as I saw the names you were mentioning I new who you were. I fired you off an email to get your #.
So how do you keep Stumpy in parts?? You must have a stock pile the size of a Wal-Mart parking lot. He is one of the only guys I've seen who can look at a saw and make it break from fear. I am located just south of Paul and Wally. Also, you know the type of competition that I race against every week in the summer.
By the way you would happen to have one of those jugs collecting dust? Please get a hold of me I'm preaty sure you have some of the parts I'm in need of.

Thanks,
Chris

hey Ed- the saw I'm working on is an 064 with a thin-ring Husky 181se piston in it. You're right, I'm going to try stuffers that come in above the intake port- not enough room there for an actual boost port and snake porting in this barrel leaves some to be desired.

Titanium ports

J.J. adding 2 ports with there own flow of fuel and air mixture to the cylinder should add more flow than distirbing the flow of the existing transfers by coming in on top of them with extra mixture. This should not be done with a boost port, just use the external ports coming in above the intake. Try titanium putty! Dennis

Hi Ed
What size tubes are you using for the external tubes? Do they come in about 2 degress before the transfers open?

THANKS Ricky

OK AS FAR AS A WORKSAW GOES I WOULD NOT USE TUBES OR PORTS FROM OUTSIDE THE JUG I CANNOT SEE WHERE YOU NEED THAT MUCH AIR YOUR EXT PORT AND INTAKE PORT ARE NOT GOING TO BE BIG ENOUGH TO WARRANT THIS
JUST MODIFIED YOUR 2 TRANSFER PORTS NOW WILL BE ENOUGH
IF YOU MODIFIED YOUR EXT. AND INTAKE PORT TO WHERE YOU NEED OUTSIDE PORTS YOUR SAW WOULD GET SO HOT SO FAST BY THE TIME YOU MAKE 25CUTS SHE IS HISTORY
I WOULD WORK ON THE MUFFLER FIRST THEN WORK ON YOUR CHAINS AND IF THAT IS NOT FAST ENOUGH JOIN THE GROUP BUY A BIGGER SAW

066
MY RUNNERS COME IN AT THE SAME DEGREE AS MY SIDE TRANSFERS ON OPENING
JUST KEEP THE ROOF OF YOUR SIDE PORTS AT THE STOCK ANGLE OR ABOUT 3 DEGREES UP
ON YOUR TUBES THEY NEED TO BE AT 15 DEGREES UP
YOUR TUBE CHARGE WILL GO OVER YOU SIDE CHARGE WHEN FILLING THE JUG
AS FAR AS WGAT I USE FOR MY RUNNERS IS A STUFF CALLEDSTELL PUTTY BY LPS BUT I HEAR THEY HAVE STOPPED MAKING IT BUT I CAN STILL GET HERE AND IT IS MADE IN THE USA
THE GOOD JB WILL WORK BUT IS MESSY THE LPS DOESNOT MOVE ONCE YOU PUT IT ON
IF YOU ARE GOING TO RUN ALCOHOL JUST MAKE SURE THE STUFF YOU USE IS OK WITH ALCOHOL
YOU SHOULD ALSO MOUNT YOUR CARB ONTO THE JUG IF THIS IS GOING TO BE A ALLOUT RACER

Get some head!

JJ there's several ways to do what you want, another way is to add another transfer port on the exhaust side though the existing transfer, but anyway you do it, its alot of work! Plus, not very much room to work with. Look at some newer motorcycle cylinders and you can see what they're doing. That will give you some different idea's, and the motorcycle guys know what there doing. While your at it, put a reed cage on it and make a head. Your best mod to do for what your looking for is a new combustion chamber. Cut your head off and build another one! Dennis

Dennis,
I think we could all take your advise:

Cut your head off and build another one!

Just think of the money you could save if you never touched a chainsaw???

Sorry, Had too.

Chris

Ed

What size tubes are you using on a racing saw? Are you using one tube or two out of the crankcase?

I DONOT RUN A TUBE
I OPEN UP MY CRANKCASE TO BLEND WITH MY JUG
NOWWITH THE EXT. PORT CLOSEST TO YOUR FACE AND THE INTAKE PORT AWAY FROM YOU WITH THE JUG IN THE NORMAL UP POS. LOOKJUST UNDER THE JUG AT THE INTAKE PORT
NOW LOOK AT THE TRANSFER PORT THE WALL ON THE BOTTON OF THE TRANSFER PORT IS WHERE I GO OUT YOU WILL NEED BRASS TUBES FOR YOUR BOLTS TO GO THROUGH TO HOLD YOUR HEAD AND JUG ON I ALSO TAKE THE BRIDGE OF THE TRANSFER THAT THE AIR GOES THROUGH OUT
SOI GO OUT THERE AND BETWEEN THE JUG AND THE BRASS TUBE
THEN COME IN ABOVE THE INTAKE PORT
WHEN JOHN COMES UP I WILL LET HIM TAKE SOME PICTURES TO SHOW YOUOK
THIS IS FOR MOTORS THAT COME WITH 2 TRANSFER MOTORS NOT 4 PORT
PLUS THE ONLY REASON WE DO THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE WIDE SKIRT PISTON WE USE THERE IS NO ROOM LET ON THE INSIDE OF THE JUG FOR MORE TRANSFERS
THE INTAKE PORT AND EXT. PORT ARE HUGE

hey dennis is there any real big trees out there i can fall
the biggest tree here that was a tree for lumber not some screwed up 10 ft wide 8 ft tall maple in a yard
is 6 1/2 ft wide white pine the maple up here 4 ft wide is about it
i cut for 22years out here now but the bylaws are so bad now forget it

ehp, to cut any goverment timber now, you can't cut anything over 30" dbh un less its close to the road and a danger. To cut something big else where you'd have to hire on with the helicopter companies, and they haven't been around here in a while. There is suppose to be some nice burnt trees to cut down in San Bernadino,Ca. [Arrowhead]. Dennis

hi dennis
out here where i live there is very little crown land
we own are land and still the gov"t here has the right to tell you what you can and cannot cut

Tight Head

ehp what is your head squished down to and your combustion chamber cc at to run 20%, if you don't mind me asking. I'm just curious, because I didn't change mine from running fuel [alkie] to 20% nitro, just redrilled the carb. I understand if you don't want to give me your figures. Lots of eyes and big mouths on the site. Thanks Ed, Dennis
