Reading these posts have me dreaming of getting my 046 ported. I have an earlier 046 I'm hoping to send Randy's way, but bills keep stacking up. :(
I hope to schedule a date sometime in the near future.

  1. Yeah the 650 makes very good torque in stock form,,,, I can just about Imagine after it has been stuffed with bananna's and stuff!!!! FWIW I edited post 154 which you quoted,, and corrected a few typo's miss-pellings, and the difference's in multiple saw technical stuff.. it is much more accurate.... Must have had one to many toddies during the original posting!!!!!! Just saying:confused:
image.jpgHere's the saw no one likes River Rat sure it not my old 2100 or 660 but I think some people are missing out on, it's not that bad of a saw

They are excellent saws, My stump grinding nephew Jody uses one any time he has to flushcut anything w/32" or bigger,,, I ported it a bit for him mostly widened intake and gave it a single MM of Intake floor port timing, with a mild muffler mod and a squish reduction/compression boost,,,, its pretty stout,,,

My grumpy old grandpa of an 046 made its way home yesterday. Its a whole different animal... Angry. I didn't check compression, but its clearly much higher. Before its Tennessee vacation it was around 160 psi and was a kitten to drop start. Now, you best believe it commands a whole new level of respect. Lets just say i'll be giving him a new E-last-o-start handle today. And it's definitely "piss your neighbors off loud" now too :)

Of course I had to drag it back to the wood pile. Wow! Just WOW! Seat of the pants wow factor is serious. As a first ported saw, its amazing.

I'm looking forward to Saturday morning. Should have some big river bottom Sycamore and an Elm to sacrifice to the angry wood demon. Picking up a variety of new chains and a NOS 28" bar that just came in from Jon1212 (thanks again Jon and Randy). Both are members you'll be happy to deal with!
