Any viewers of this thread have any Sachs Dolmar 117 parts they would part with reasonably? I am in need of a crank & con rod, & the clutch side part of the crankcase. Or the whole lower end...
I had a fellow give me (thank goodness) a 117 that he had left outside,:mad: because it "wasn't running right". But he said "It wasn't that long" that it had sat. However, it was long enough for water to trickle down from the air cleaner screw, through the carb, to the piston, (rings stopped above the intake port) fill up the crankcase with water & seize up both crank bearings & the lower rod bearing. At least I didn't buy it!

I think there are a couple models to choose from there (116, 117,120 and maybe the si), but there are others here that know more about that. If you part it out, I could use a thing or two.

Some ideas ...

Got a question for the experts. Can a person tell the difference between The Sachs 111 & a 115 with out a look at the P & C? From pics only? Its an auction saw, so I don't have it in hand....

Some differences I noticed from the IPL:
- If the handle is metal, the saw may have the heated handle option and it was only offered on the 110i/115/115i
- I think only the 115 had the clutch with three shoes

Hope this helps

Dolmar 144

Is there anyone that happens to have a Filter Housing (P/N 122 173 010) for a Dolmar 144? This part is fastened to the carburetor by the carburetor mounting screws and holds the air filter. This saw is the same except for color as a Poulan 5500 and its Filter Housing is P/N 90023. I have been looking for this part for quite a while, and I would appreciate any leads in obtaining one used or NOS. thanks

Take the kw number and divide by .746 and that'll get you an accurate BHP number ;)

The old SAE HP #'s were great for advertising purposes.

I was wondering how they were so strong. Even when you do the math, they are still some very stout saws.

S/D 111i - Rev limiter?

Hey guys - I have been reading and have seen mention of a rev limter on a 111i - any truth to this? Thanks!

well my 120si toasted its piston. the cylinder is good and will clean up nice.my question is oem or meteor? there is a huge price difference but what about quality/life expectancy? since the original lasted well over 25 years oem should pay for itself, but funds are a little scare.

I got this 112 couple days ago runs great. I gave it a cleaning today and took it out and cut a pickup full of wood with it.

My question is, has it been painted? Acres shows this saw as the red or silver but it looks more white than silver the side cover you can see the red but not on the rest of the saw. I'm just going to run it not restore. was just curious.

That color is factory, they made them in those three colors, I have the red and silver ones but have not found a white one yet. The red ones were common stock ones, the silver and the white ones were special anniversary models.

I posted in the manuals thread already, but does anyone have an IPL and shop manual for a 120si? I picked up two tonight and I'm going to restore one of them.

Sd 133

Found a SD133 in a pawn shop today. It's missing the chainbrake but everything else seemed in good shape. It had good compression and started and ran.I'm just trying to get an idea what they are going for and any potential problems to look for. Any help would be appreciated. Dan :help:

112 condenser

I have a weak and inconsistant spark on my 112. The points are in good condition and I am thinking the condenser needs replacing.

Anyone used those little Modules that replaces the points & condenser? Do they work? Or should I try to source a condenser?

And anyone have a trick to removing the oiler worm from the crank shaft? Seems stuck fast!

Al.

The modules will work fine on the 112, the better fix is to replace the coil with a module/coil from a 113-116, bolts right on, just hook up the kill switch wire and snap the plug wire on the plug. The points setup works great on those saws but I have seen where a lot of them have broken wires coming from the points to the coil. You cannot see this break but it is easily found by gently tugging on the wire itself, the outer insulation jacket will easily streatch.

I've fitted the Nova modules to several saws mowers and brush cutters with good results, better spark making easy starting, the Nova CPM 00 works fine
this is the one's I've fitted
NOVA ELECTRONIC IGNITION MODULE *NEW* on eBay (end time 24-Mar-11 16:42:30 GMT)
it is both negative and positive going, and some machines need this!
the other thing is they need to be placed where they get an air flow for cooling (not under the fly wheel where the old points was) having said that there quite small and you can usually find a spot for them!
