Are the heavyer one (15oz) to get though thicker brackets. Which one do u guys most of the time.

Thanks David

Yes the heavier ones help to get through thicker stuff and still hopefully have enough momentum to get over the crotch/branch and fall back down.
It is a pain (at least to me) that it is so much harder to fire them with the bigshot however. Forget trying to hit those really high crotches!

I usually use a 8, 10 or 12 oz depending on need on a particular job. I find having practice in being a better aim with the bigshot is more useful than heavier weights.

I generally don't use ones as heavy as 15oz but i do carry them just in case. ;)

I like the heavy ones. I found a 20oz one at tree stuff. I can't get those little 10oz ones to come down. I use a 15oz one for the bigshot, granted I've never had to shot one over a 100 feet. I like using the thicker throw line as it doesn't seem to tangle as easy, but does take more weight to get it down. Some times when trying to isolate a single branch, you need a couple heavy throwballs tied mid line to over come the friction of the line going over two branches.
I some times put 15 inches of clear tubing over the end of the line with the ball fixed, coming out the very end and use it to lobe that big 20oz throwbag where it has to go. works pretty good for medium throws.

The trees i deal with almost all the time are fairly open with big branches and are not very crowded. I get away with the small bags and don't have much of an issue with line getting back to the ground.
If i was dealing with the sort of trees you are i would be changing to heavier bags real quick. Like i said i do have them with me but don' seem to use them that much.

Find what works best for you on the types of trees that you commonly deal with. Throw bags are cheap. Try a few different shapes and weights to see what you prefer.
