Does the laser cut the log too?
Only when you don't need to to fight off bears and other two legged predators. I hope it makes chainsaw noise while it cuts the wood. Otherwise it wood be a no go for me.

No, we live in Canada and have the view of both falls from our side. No need to go to the US side other than we just wanted to because we used to live there.
I have one and like it. On my ms460 it's possible to bump it while bucking big logs but not a huge problem. The laser is harder to see on a bright day but still visible.
Your life sounds similar to mine. My youngest is turning 4 this week and my oldest will be turning 10 in July. Time flies, enjoy every moment!

Watching Little House On The Prairie when they were living in MN there were always live oaks.
I haven't watched that show in years. I'm pretty sure live oaks are a southern tree.

Since we've moved in I've cut down about 30. Only 100ish to go. I'm losing 3/4 of my trees in the creek bottom and the rest are huge willows that are tipping over.
Emerad ash borer has been devastating to the woodlots around here. Most of the woods that haven't been converted to farmland were in low areas with seasonal water. Ash trees are one of the few local species that can handle it and therefore are(were) a predominant species in most of the local woods. Lots of people are planting swamp oaks and silver maples to replace the loss.Hang on. You have lots of scrounge to come down...and this is bad? If only I had scrounge on my property
I will miss the ash trees. It made damn fine underrated lumber and pretty darn good firewood. On the upside, it's good to be a woodpecker now!

I was out on the scrounge again today. I think I'm getting even stronger from holding this thread up too.
Jumped the fence at Mitch's again today and came across a nice dry peppermint log which was obligingly off the ground. You can see it in this pic from the other day, mid-upper, slightly left, at the back of the logs, angled up to the left.

Major attribute was that it was pretty much dry, and also mostly solid.

Only issue being that it was behind other logs and up a steeper hill than is apparent from this pic.

Anyway, I chucked them over the other logs (having halved them so they didn't didn't roll down and destroy Mitch's fence) then lumped the rounds down and chucked them over.

It's always a guess as to how much to cut to fill the ute and like my tendency at the dinner table, I over-estimated. Which meant that I had to do this.

I turned the propain furnace off yesterday. It was 66° in the house this morning so I fired up the wood furnace. This load of beech should get it up to 73° or so.

Today is day one of the diet, so I’m sure I’ll be crabby later. Hit it up big with carbs this weekend to send off in style lol. Yesterday alone, we had caramel rolls, French toast bake, baked spaghetti, and herb bread. I figured now is a good time to start because I have eight weeks to get the shape before my class reunion…I know there will be some single ladies there!
You know the funniest thing though….most girls, even good looking fit ones like a guy with a dad bod...go figure.
I figure I can lose or 25 pounds and still have a dad bod so I’m safe LMAO

Luckily, up at my property they are still alive.
I get on the scale every morning and get mad at myself if I'm more than 5 lbs over my target weight. Did better this year than the previous few years. My target is 185 and I stayed there most of tax season, but late March and Early April I did hit 92 briefly. The previous few years I kept bumping up against 200 and I was determined not to do that again. I don't think I could do my pullups if I was 25 over!
Luckily, up at my property they are still alive.

After 6 cups of coffee (about 3 lbs of fluid) I was 230 on the scale. And I am shorter than you!

A guy I used to work with was only 25, but had a body like Hank Hill...we used to give him crap about his beer belly, but he claimed the ladies liked it. I dunno if I believe him on this, but his theory was the dad bod was a "provider" image to them.
He'd then go onto say that I looked like a tweaker and women didn't think I looked like stable relationship material.

IDK that I actually want to see these women, they might be a bit hard on the eyes. He did have a pretty cute girlfriend for a little while, but his personality around her was a polar opposite of his "normal," so I knew it wasn't going to last for long.
I got the last laugh with that guy though...he eventually got insta-fired for inappropriate behavior. I won't go into details, but lets just say that you shouldn't pee in/on things that aren't trees or toiletry receptacles...and if that's too hard a rule to follow, don't whip your little wiener out to pee on said objects when female coworkers are present.
I haven't had the same issues with the AutoTune saws, they have their own set of issues, fortunately I've not had to deal with them much. I did need to adjust the air purge on a couple of them, and I've had updates done before selling them just for thebsake of saying it, other than that they've been just like standard carbs. The Mtronic saws I always reset when they come to me, but I don't do it often once I've got them, kinda like what you're saying, my elevation doesn't change much(which I think can effect them quite a bit, any thoughts mountain men) and I mix my fuel the same everytime (which I also think effects them quite a bit initially).
Regardless I like them both.

Guthrie Linck is doing the tuning on the tdi. He's from Maine I think. We're slowly getting this combination dialed in. Have a new 70mg fuel tune to load when I get home tonight. He did some other tweaks based on my feedback and the data logging I've been doing. (Which is hard to find time to do as well.) This should end up being a stock tune for him when we're done testing it. A few other guys he's tuning are running very similar set ups. It's been a pretty neat process. Nothing like in a pickup truck where you just get a tune and deal with adjusting your hardware to make it work right.
Last year I was recovering a ride, and the other guys with me started laughing. Asked what was up and Justin said that woman over there said you have the perfect dad bod, and wanted to know of you were single. He pointed her out as she left and truth be told, I was surprised how good looming she was. My wife a good looking woman too, but just kinda figured she got used to the extra 30lbs I've packed on since I'm the kids food dumpster these days. Never thought my gut was attractive myself.

Went to the range again today and shot a 3/4" group with my favorite load in the 338-06 (210 gr Barnes TTSX w/60.5 gr H380).
I have shot several sub 1" groups with this load, so it will be the load I will hunt with.
I have adjusted the powder charge for both the 200 and 225 gr Hornady SST bullets so they print in the same location, but the group size was 1 7/8" and 2 1/8" respectively. I will use them for informal target shooting and save the more expensive Barnes bullets for hunting.
All of today's shooting was with neck sized brass. I have shot 1" and 1 1/4" groups with my favorite load with full length sized brass, but the neck sized brass seems to tighten it 1/4 to 1/2". If I neck size more than once w/o full length sizing, the brass gets a bit sticky when extracting, so I will just neck size every second time. This should make my brass last almost twice as long (as the brass does not seem to change size much when only neck sizing). I will also hunt with the NS brass, as it feeds and extracts just fine and is a little more accurate.
