This guy was leaving yesterday when I came out. He was going 20-30 miles per hour down the 4 lane road, in the lane closest to me. I couldn't hear his truck running. It seems now adays, even with OEM restorations, they seem to put loud exhaust on them. I was at the Mason Dixon All Mopar Show years ago, with my 68 Barracuda Formula S, 383 4 speed. An older guy walked buy and gave me a thumbs up, then he stopped and took 3 or 4 steps backwards, pointed and said is it running? I shook my head yes. He said he liked them like that, nice and quiet till you stepped on it. So, I stepped on it. It gets pretty loud when you stand on it, but just cruising down the road it's pretty quiet.

Finally got all 34 freaking cutting teeth torqued, so I decided to dodge the rain drops and go out to grind two stumps in my front yard.

I've got to say, even with only 16 or 17 PTO HP, it ground through these conifer stumps like butter. Literally just a couple of minutes for each. The smaller stump was probably 3"-4" in diameter above ground, and the larger one was probably 10"-12" in diameter above ground.

I could have dug down up to 6" I think below ground level, but I don't care if the stump is visible as long as it doesn't catch my mower blades when cutting the lawn.

Now I've got a whole lot more stumps to grind on my trails running through my woods, ugh.....

Looks like a dinosaur vertebrae there. Time to open a jurassic park Jeff.

My average annual income was about 170k between three different species seasons of crabbing. Any where betwen five to eight months total work. All depending on quota, weather, and how good fishing was. No days off during any particular season. Once you step on that boat. Its all hands turning to it evrey day until seasons end and You step off. My best year was 215k between three different seasons. Brown King Crab, Red King Crab and Opilio Tanner Crab. You folks that dine at red lobster know Opilio or Opie as we call them. As "snow crab"
I will only be fishing for Brown King crab this go-round. I expect to low ball 60k, High ball 80k for two and a half months work.

I hope this answers your questions Pard.
$63k a year teaching in the hood in Philadelphia. What’s a plane ticket cost to your parts?

You making more than 95% of the average deck hand on a crab boat this past two years, because there has not been a Red King Crab or Opie season in two years. Brown King Crab is a very elite crab fishery and only five boats in the country participate in it. I'm very fortunate to have this job, but not many have experience long lining brown crab gear. Brown Crabbing compared to all other crab fisheries is what separates the scallywags and scallywops from seasoned top hand crabers ! Lol! 🤣

One downfall of the internet. One dimensional as far as communication goes. Can’t read someone’s body language, hear tone in someone’s voice in a given conversation. There was a slight hint of sarcasm that you’d never pick up on via a forum.

Much respect for you and the individuals who work in your field. Not for me with a wife and kids at home and I’m certainly lacking the skill set and knowledge to perform the everyday duties and tasks onboard a boat that you board during crab season.

High paying jobs aren’t given out, they are earned. I’m 1/3 of the way through my career and working my way up.

I enjoy this thread, mostly watch, but enjoy the people that it brings and seeing what life entails In all parts of our country and the globe.

I know the solution for that ... but your mileage may decline!
It's already got much bigger injectors and turbo installed, and tuned 😁. Actually so long as I drive reasonably I don't have mpg issues. 43 has been my worst, 48.8 has been my best.

I was implying 8 cylinders and a SC ... you will not notice the AC, but your mileage will suffer!

I also don't lose any speed going up a hill with the cruise control set, and it does not cheat and downshift like my truck! (a stick shift can't do that).

I can do over 20 MPG on the highway if I don't play! Sometimes, that gets tough to do!

The newer Mustangs are more aero and have 6 speeds, making it far easier to get closer to 30 MPG on the highway.

When my wife had the 2003 Vette, that darn thing would get over 30 MPG with the cruise control set at over 80 MPH! It was far more aero and had a 6-speed stick.

For what it is it does alright. I should be right close to 180hp and around 300ftlbs of torque. There isnt really any downshifting for hills, just push the throttle a bit harder. Defiantly not my cummins, or a supercharged 4.6L but it's surprisingly quick for a 4cyl diesel.

I know guys that would love that truck lol
I was surprised he wanted to get rid of it, but he took most the good parts off. Had a locked up rear and frame is pretty rotten, drug it out from behind the shop with the skidder then winched it up on the trailer. Down the road she went.

I used Rustoleum rust convertor paint on the back of my truck frame on Sunday. Yesterday I uncovered the frame to keep working on it. I had sprayed the frame with 3 coats of paint. I was shocked to see rust coming thru the paint. What a waste of money and time using this crap. I did manage to get a lot more done on the truck frame yesterday. I painted with a primer paint combo this time. POR15 will be going over it in the near future. I still have a lot more blasting to do first.
