I'm thinking trigger happy armed guards on both sides of the work zone are needed as ropes, barrier poles, signs, trucks and even yelling at people have failed over the years. 😕
Today, people are generally stupid and think they are invincible. See that every day. Like Forrest Gump stated... Stupid is as stupid does....

I wasn't going to say anything, but I was thinking it looked like Town, County, or State workers! One guy cutting and everyone else supervising!

But they are volunteers, so good on them, they got a lot of stuff done! Give them a lot of credit for doing what they did, including group log rolling w/o a peavey!

@11:15 it looked like they were either all union workers(sorry if you are one lol) or they were taking bets if he'd get pinched .
Good video, At my age if I'm working on my hardwood forested property up north (Michigan), I prefer to sleep in a motel nearby. Something about clean sheets and a Continental breakfast I like, besides, I'm too old to sleep on the ground, in a tent and mummy bag. I see most of them had (marginal PPE on) but at least they had something on... The group reminds me of the road crews here. 10 guys or more, standing around watching a shovel and waiting for that shovel to do something constructive. I always ask them (I know a few of the personally) if they have been able to train that shovel to do the work...lol

I just wish some member on here would come and relieve me of the growing (huge) pile of mixed hardwood saw logs that are piling up by my barn. I won't reduce the pile by sawing them any more but I will load them on a trailer, in the back of your truck or on a semi trailer just to get rid of them...for free. They are in my way and getting worse.

I think the "Me First" and "Instant gratification" mentalities are a huge issue...
I just hold out hope that the multitudes put that aside and vote in 2024, our very existence as a Republic depends on it. Instant gratification could turn into misery if they don't.

MTU's are our current workhorses. Nothing can touch them for the power/ weight ratio, reliability or efficiency.
They are primarily marine engines and stationary power plants. Kind of like Detroits were and still are today. DDEC still builds them but in limited numbers for vocational applications (2 strokes where the EPA T4 regs have not impacted them yet but they will at some point). 2 stroke Yamaha's are inherently dirty polluters.

One of my wife's duty assignments was DDEC in Warren, Michigan, north of 8 mile off Telegraph. I count my blessing every day I married a government employee and I kiss her butt constantly. If it wasn't for her, I'd be destitute. Best retirement ever even better than the UAW because they never go on strike.

She was in supervision at the end so not in the union but all the union perks still applied. Only retiree I know of that receives a monthly retirement stipend equal to 90% of her accrued last 5 grade assignment. Lets just say with her retiring as a GS15, Step 10, it's very substantial and she keeps her health care coverage (which is transferrable to me if she dies before I do). It's not cheap but it's golden. Between Medicare (I'm on Medicare and so is she) and it's our primary, Federal Employees BC/BS picks up the difference 100% so we pay zilch except for prescriptions and even that is a 5 buck per copay.

She does not get Social Security, no government civil service employee does and neither do retired military contrary to what people assume but their 'pension' more than makes up for it. My monthly Social Security deposit pales in comparison to her stipend.

Chipper, the two cameras with cell service are Spypoint, but I do not highly recommend them, they work well sporadically. They will seem to get every animal for a week, then not get a PU truck that went in and out, not even when you read the card. And sometimes reading the card gives you pictures that did not get sent???

That said, it is entertaining to see things now and then. Seems to be a lot of animal activity this year. (Then there will be several days with nothing, and you say to yourself WTF!) If I did not know for a fact that a PU truck went in and out w/o any pictures, I would trust the cameras more.

We ordered the Buck pic in high def, shows it a bit better!
Thanks Mike.
Kinda odd they screw up like that.
My buddy has a few he's gonna bring over, already has them in his truck, just need to see when that is. Since he's borrowing my trailer right now, it shouldn't be too long, I hope lol.
Saw a small 4 point out back today with a doe, then they got spooked off, 10 min or less later this guy and a doe come in. Looks to be a couple yrs old, 7 points for sure, could see the 8th, but couldn't tell if it would be counted with the velvet still on.
About 35yrds out, checking out the kids zip line.

Sorry I can't help you out, but I'll be heading thru there with the semi shortly and waving :hi:.

You forgot the everyones a winner/gets a trophy :numberone:.
Even happened at the car show I was at last weekend :dumb::buttkick:. Stupid as it ain't how life works.

Well, I just hope they vote better than the last time if they decide to come out, then again, how many of the votes the last time around were legit :nofunny:.

Retired NYS employees get a pension and Social Security, but the pension is not as good as Federal workers (But it is a better pension than CT workers get, and they don't get Social Security either!). FYI, some Federal workers do also get Social Security, but it depends on the date they were hired.

FYI, I'm retired NYS, but still work as a Tax Preparer with 100s of clients (mostly NY + CT). I'm a retired Audit Manager and Certified Fraud Examiner.

You know what they say: "I used to vote Republican, but now that I'm dead I've been voting for Democrats".

They also like to hit the Nursing Homes and such hard ... God knows how many of them really know who they voted for!

Our MTU's are marinized and rebadged as a Detroit Diesel. All of ours are V-16 2000 series, 2 DDEC engines and 7 MDEC's. All of these are older, pre-common rail designs.
