i recorded and watched G Eastman's High Wild and Free last night. in one segment, they fly in a chopper 200 miles into the backbush... and hang out with the Mountain Indians, a tribe. semi-modernized, but dwindling. they (indians) leave. they catch beaver. they don't even gut it to cook it! then they open it up. beaver very important to them... and they use every bit of it!! cooked tail, once shelled like shrimp is as tasty and just like bacon...I think the "Me First" and "Instant gratification" mentalities are a huge issue...
i think the other shoe is already in flight! ~I just hold out hope that the multitudes put that aside and vote in 2024, our very existence as a Republic depends on it. Instant gratification could turn into misery if they don't.
@11:15 it looked like they were either all union workers(sorry if you are one lol) or they were taking bets if he'd get pinched .
I wasn't going to say anything, but I was thinking it looked like Town, County, or State workers! One guy cutting and everyone else supervising!
But they are volunteers, so good on them, they got a lot of stuff done! Give them a lot of credit for doing what they did, including group log rolling w/o a peavey!
i think the other shoe is already in flight! ~
I see most of them had (marginal PPE on) but at least they had something on...
21 years AF (etired 1975. I get Soc Scty, AF pension and free medical ( I enlisted back when the recruiters were promising "stay for 20, get free medical for life". That was ended shortly after I enlisted but the powers finally had to admit that "Yes, that was the promise" somwhere in the 80s. Coesn't apply any more. They are primarily marine engines and stationary power plants. Kind of like Detroits were and still are today. DDEC still builds them but in limited numbers for vocational applications (2 strokes where the EPA T4 regs have not impacted them yet but they will at some point). 2 stroke Yamaha's are inherently dirty polluters.
One of my wife's duty assignments was DDEC in Warren, Michigan, north of 8 mile off Telegraph. I count my blessing every day I married a government employee and I kiss her butt constantly. If it wasn't for her, I'd be destitute. Best retirement ever even better than the UAW because they never go on strike.
She was in supervision at the end so not in the union but all the union perks still applied. Only retiree I know of that receives a monthly retirement stipend equal to 90% of her accrued last 5 grade assignment. Lets just say with her retiring as a GS15, Step 10, it's very substantial and she keeps her health care coverage (which is transferrable to me if she dies before I do). It's not cheap but it's golden. Between Medicare (I'm on Medicare and so is she) and it's our primary, Federal Employees BC/BS picks up the difference 100% so we pay zilch except for prescriptions and even that is a 5 buck per copay.
She does not get Social Security, no government civil service employee does and neither do retired military contrary to what people assume but their 'pension' more than makes up for it. My monthly Social Security deposit pales in comparison to her stipend.
You seem to have a lot of vises. Repent and buy no more. Are we still talking vises? Cuz here's three more,
I've never used any of these, they are just hanging out in my barn.
SR
Always need a backup and usually a backup for the backup - saws, hammers, knives, guns, trailers, et al. I have several vises for different locations and different purposes. Nope, just one we won't do.in reality, you only need one anyway.
Thanks Mike.
Kinda odd they screw up like that.
My buddy has a few he's gonna bring over, already has them in his truck, just need to see when that is. Since he's borrowing my trailer right now, it shouldn't be too long, I hope lol.
Saw a small 4 point out back today with a doe, then they got spooked off, 10 min or less later this guy and a doe come in. Looks to be a couple yrs old, 7 points for sure, could see the 8th, but couldn't tell if it would be counted with the velvet still on.
About 35yrds out, checking out the kids zip line.
