I no longer can muscle big wheels/tires like this, but my pallet forks with grapple can!

That makes sense. Seems like it would plug the pores of the pads up.

Nope.
It burned into the coating on the wheels. Is that what guys use, sure that would remove the coating on the wheel, but so would abrasive buffing and then polishing it. Not sure if it would ruin the chrome on the cap.
Never tried it personally but here's a video. No personal experience with it so proceed at your own risk. ;)

Propane cost has gone through the roof too. My uncle fill tanks as a side gig at his shop. He used to charge customer $12.00 for a grill sized tank. Now it's $26.00. Even for me at his cost is $15.00. Just ridiculous. We keep talking about getting gas or electric heat in the house, as the furnace needs filled every 10 ish hours over winter. The cost of a new system is just more then we are comfortable spending right now for gas or electric. Heck I can get a nice used oil furnace for supplemental heat for cheap, but the oil cost an arm and a leg. What do you do?
Yes they have.

It’s so disgusting how everything has gone through the roof over the past few years due to a combination of bad politics, price gouging, and the lack of lower skilled workforce.

I guarantee the burger flippers making 15 to 20 an hour now have a lower quality of life than they did making 8-10 a few years back.

Couple local FB Marketplace scores recently the dead very dry Green Ash up to 14" diameter barely a couple miles from me yesterday morning, and some big old Mulberry barely a mile round trip in old neighborhood from me this morning.Roughly 80% of the Mulberry will be future small woodworking material - some bowl blanks for woodturning,a few smaller slabs for cutting boards, other things like small cabinet/furniture parts.I took the biggest & the best, left the rest 👍 The Ash I took most of the bigger rounds for firewood - a nearby neighbor of the homeowner took a wheelbarrow full of the bigger rounds for various future projects (nice guy,a fellow woodturner/artisan in his mid 40's he said) The homeowner told me "There's 2 more dead Ash on the property you may've noticed,we're gonna have those removed later this week, you're more than welcome to take as much of it also....I politely replied "I may come back in a few days, almost running out of storage space here, but we'll see...."

Plus its been almost 2 weeks since I was at the family cabin -havent finished cleaning up that deadfall from the last 2 visits - that county received around 5 inches rain last week, hopefully no tornadoes or other major storm damage like a neighboring county did - so I'll see if its too wet (finally after a 2 year drought) out there to do much anything.I can always cut up & temporarily stack what was done last time. A few trails, part of the area near the old semi dilapidated wood shed & garage need mowed, but am thinking it'll be too wet still to do that also now.

I needed a break anyway, even if just a temporary one haha Funny thing about being ''retired'' for almost 5 years now - I'm just as busy (most days) as when working full time 40+ hrs weekly.Just now if I'm hurting a bit too much,I take a day or two off from things, doing only what is needed, then returning when I feel better. But unless I over do things physically I actually feel better when staying active, its a proven fact your body will lose any strength & resilience if you are sedentary too long.I found that out after 31 day hospital stay from various COVID complications Dec 2021-Jan 2022 which I wont go into details here.Laying in hospital bed for almost 3 weeks before any physical therapy turned my body to jello, had no strength & could barely walk unassisted.

But even after getting home on Jan 11,it was a long period of rest & getting my strength back, almost mid May before I felt even close to ''normal'',I was given strict orders by my Doctor & others "Don't do anything but put on your boots for the next 3 months, dont even THINK about climbing/cutting a tree or even starting a small chainsaw blah blah......dont shovel any snow or even use the snowblower etc....Even if you feel like it after a month.....Your body took a tremendous hit, plus losing 30 lbs from all that it went through."
I actually listened to their advice for once lol and I'm no doubt stronger now (or as strong) before getting so sick almost 3 years ago

Post some pics of your wood turnings either on the "What did you make with your milled wood" thread or here in the "Other" section. Especially some Mulberry projects. I've been cutting blanks for my Nephew and hope to start turning myself soon, My basement is getting full  .

My Dad was worried about retiring, but when he did, he found that he was more busy than he wanted to be. Now, I'm finding the same. It's a good thing, though. Have to stay active to stay healthy despite the aches and pains. Do like you've described, cut back when really hurting, but keep moving.

The rainy pattern finally stopped so I took the 046 out to the log yard to see if it would start. Last time I used it, it got a little hot and stopped running. Wanted to get the last of the Black Locust out of there. Saw started after about 10 pulls and I made 2-4 cuts and then shut down the saw to let it cool. Not the best scenario but I quartered the rounds with the Fiskars and then loaded them. Then make several more cuts and repeat. No need to rush, beautiful day and low humidity.

I got 5 of the seven logs cut up and loaded and had one more to do. Then I noticed the black stain on the last piece I cut. Ran into a bolt.

So, I ended up with almost a full load. 5th, I think. Oh well, number doesn't really matter. @H-Ranch an @Cowboy254 take the awards for number of loads.

Today, after sharpening, I'll make five cuts on the 6th 12" stick and add that to yesterday's tally for a full load. I'll drag the last log (16" dia x 8') out of harms way and maybe have that milled into something. Nice and straight.

You folks are being screwed over on your electric bills. My town has it's own municipal power company. Here are last month's bils for the two electrical service meters over at our farm. The low one is for the 220v service at the barn. The other bill is at the farmhouse. Every house in town pays a monthly fee for trash pickup. The barn use is minimal with lights and light air compressor usage. The house had a bit more with lights, heat usage during April and water well usage.

Wow! You only used 97 kw hours! We use around 1000 kw hrs a month. An electric water heater and clothes dryer with 3 kids will do that though.

The vibration saga on my 85 is coming to an end . Since I bought it I’ve had an annoying vibration emanating from the front end at 65 and up . I replaced a set of General tires with Michelins the vibration was less but still there and has gotten worse again . So I decided to try taking the set off my 72 that I know runs smoothly. Changed them out and sure enough the 85 rides like a new truck .
I then took all four tires to my SIL shop put them on the spin balancer three checked out good with minor weight adjustment . The tire that came off the left front had a severe amount of radial runout . Figuring that the chances of two sets of tires being bad is remote. That and the fact the first set of tires are on my 68 and has no vibration granted I never go 50 with it . Dismounted the tire and chucked up the rim and it’s got the same radial run out . We mounted the tire from that wheel to the spare tire rim and balanced it no run out and only 1.5 once’s of weight .
Going to put them back on the truck and hopefully the vibration is gone

Glad to hear that you found the problem. I have seem this happen a lot over the years. Mostly it is the tires that get whacked from hitting huge potholes. Aluminum rims get bent up pretty good from potholes. I have an aluminum rim on my Pontiac that is out of whack slightly. It is balanced perfectly. On the balancer you can see a slight out of roundness. I have never seen a steel wheel out of round unless it was bent from an accident or huge potholes.
