Exactly what I'm saying. That handle is a Loomis design, copied and built in China. Nothing wrong with that, but it's a fact. This $50 Shakespeare ultra light paired with a Mitchell 308 has been the go to trout rig for years. Those Loomis rods sure are nice , just not a big time spender.

Lions won, Packers won, Vikings LOST.I had nice weekend up north again. My wife and I went went to a friend's wedding reception yesterday.
Today I went for a nice 2.8 mile grouse walk. We moved 4 birds and got one.View attachment 1212931View attachment 1212933
Twas a great day.
Now I get to winterize the pool. It's a pain but it sure is nice to jump in on those 90Ā° days.
Heck I thought you'd stihl be using Zebco 202.The local farmers fair was yesterday and they had a guy playing guitar for entertainment. I was surprised to hear him play "Friend of the Devil".This $50 Shakespeare ultra light paired with a Mitchell 308 has been the go to trout rig for years. That makes it a better day!Lions won, Packers won, Vikings LOST.
Sages always felt noodle to me, but they were better than many others ."I preferred the feel of my g-loomis rod so I usually just ran that......"
Loomis rods are about as good as it gets for fishing the northwest!
Yeah, I can even afford to go half way around lol. Really I need to get the barn sealed up. Got my wire for the sub-panel and to run power to the house when I get to it, that was 1900, then the bay doors alids are gonna sting me pretty hard...I haven't been out with him since 2018, and I believe he was at $400 for a full day back then. It ain't cheap, but you only go around once.
I was advised to buy the best I could afford because it was a lifetime purchase(if you bought one with a lifetime warranty). I spent a lot for the early 90s, but I didn't break it until 5yrs in, and it had well over a thousand steelies and salmon on it by then. Unfortunately when I sent it back to Loomis I found out it was a custom tire rod and they would only give me the current blank of that model, or 180 off a new one, I wasn't happy. Went to the store that me and NY buddies had spent many thousands at with the receipt, they said they would do nothing about it as it was advertised that way, no it wasn't! I let them know they could make it right or I'd never do business there again and I'd do everything I could to deter others from shopping there as well. They recently went out of business. Treat people right and you'll have a customer that advertises for you, treat them wrong and you get the opposite .Anybody that's fished in the last 40 years owes Gary Loomis a debt of gratitude. Even the cheapest $20 Wal-Mart rods are descendants of his hard work and innovation.
You are not just kidding either. In a day and age when encyclopedias have disappeared and school kids are told to get their information from the internet, it is scarry how much the information is being manipulated to re-write history.
It is really a much bigger problem than most people realize, and results in brainwashing that the victims don't realize.
They're a mix of aspen, maple, red/white oak, black spruce, tamarack, hemlock, white pine, white cedar, basswood and some ash. The types of trees in a given area depends on the soil type and how wet/swampy it is.Nice forests you have there. Very different.
6 woodies per man? Our limit is only 3. Those look pretty fat birds for woodies.Had a good morning out ducking. My buddy recently drove a good ways down into the US to pick up a boat with a mud motor. They are very uncommon here and not sold in Canada as far as I'm aware. With his new boat we were able to get way up a small creek/marsh system that is very far from any other points of access. There was about 10 spots where I would have said NOPE in preservation of my lower unit lol. The result was a two man limit of wood ducks that had not seen hunting pressure yet. Can't wait to enjoy some tonight. View attachment 1212719
Sweet except for the bolt position.A few days ago I posted that I got the trigger installed in my Ruger. Here it is all put together. I forgot how nice the 90s/early 2000s Rugers were. She just needs a better scope and it'll be ready to smoke some yotes. View attachment 1213016View attachment 1213017

Find an oak dropping acorns on the edge of a pond in the woods and you've found a wood duck honey hole! Crazy they can can eat them. I've also shot grouse with 2 or 3 big white oak acorns in their crop. Must be quite a sight watching them choke 'em down!Acorns are plentiful,

Bang on! The ground was littered with acorns. We were set up on a finger of land in a big oxbow in the creek covered by a stand of oak trees. There were also several recent scrapes and rubs on smaller trees. If it weren't such a pain to get to with a conventional outboard, I would be thinking about going back and seeing who's been frequenting that area.Find an oak dropping acorns on the edge of a pond in the woods and you've found a wood duck honey hole! Yes sir, I ride 81 every morning from Daleville exit to Salem for work..... You come with in 10 minutes of my place when you go by lol. Also just a heads up, idk how much longer your youngin will be in school, but they are in the planning phases for turning mm143-150 into 3 lane so that will probably be a fuster for the next several years.Off 81?
My kid goes to college in Johnson City TN, we drive 81 too oftenā¦.
